The only Hotel in Coggeshall
This hotel is the only hotel we have in Coggeshall. It is in the Center of town and it is where all the locals go for a nice meal out. They offer both pub meals and have formal dining as well. We go here for meals quite frequently and are satisfied with the food there. The service could be a bit speedier, but it is a small village, not a big city and you kind of expect that sort of thing. When we got married in Coggeshall, our guests stayed overnight in the White Hart. Most of them said they liked the hotel.
The building is charming and dates back to 1420. They have a beautiful lounge with beamed vaulted ceilings. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I would have no problem recommending the White Hart as a place to eat or stay overnight.
Unique Quality: The building the hotel is located in was built in the 1400's. There are beams and vaulted ceilings. Lots of old world charm. Warm and friendly pub atmosphere.

Treat with caution!
Booked a stay here months in advance. Just a couple of weeks before leaving got a letter from them saying that they had now booked in a wedding party, it was likely to be noisy AND WE WERE THE ONLY OTHERS, therefore they had cancelled our booking! Not did we want to cancel, they decided we could not stay there. Found another (better but more expensive hotel) nearby - the De Vere in Earls Colne - which was really superb BUT was told that a number of people staying had the same experience at the White Hart! SO MUCH FOR THE ONLY ONES!!! Go for the De Vere - it is down the road, the chef is superb and the beds the most comfortable I have ever found!
