Don't get me wrong, Harlow isn't a bad town, it simply lacks in cultural energy, entertainment variety and plain old style! I work in Harlow and spend any of my spare time in London.. if I'm forced to go out in Harlow, its either Liquid (the nightclub) or The Hare (a pub).
Old Harlow provides your average rustic village atmosphere with a few nice restaurants and some of the other surrounding towns (Sawbridgeworth, Bishop Stortford) have their good points.
The city centre is a centralised pedestrian block surrounded by a few car parks and contains the usual high street shops. Otherwise it is surrounded by A and B roads with ridiculous bus lanes with traffic lights and a multitude of roundabouts.
Advice.. go visit somewhere else.. or if you're very curious visit the Harlow Council website.
