More about Beaumont House Hotel
A Wonderful Hotel!
We stayed for 4 nights, having found the hotel originally on Tripadvisor, and true to its ranking, we were not disappointed. There was a bit of a mix up with the grade of room that we had booked, but this was quickly rectified, more so, as we were upgraded to room 5, the Prestbury Suite. A delightfully spacious room with a very comfortable kingsize bed, flat screen TV, sofa, tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridge/bar and large en-suite with twin wash hand basins, jacuzzi and a TV built into the wall(!). There was also a wired broadband connection and room safe big enough to take a laptop, all free of charge. The room was spotlessly clean and there is no smoking allowed throughout the hotel - brilliant.
The breakfast is a real treat with plenty of choice, cereals, cooked to order breakfast, fresh fruit and other options.
The owners, Fan and Alan and their staff, are wonderful hosts, offering impeccable friendly service, always taking an interest in how you are enjoying the stay and offering plenty of advice on the local restaurants and other places to visit.
On the subject of places to visit, if you want to see the quintessential image of a Cotswold village, you must visit Broadway. It's extremely pretty, has less obvious commercial impact than some of the other villagesand there are quite a few nice pubs. We ate at The Swan, very good food and friendly staff.
Cheltenham itself offers a really good shopping area with plenty of choice and again some really excellent places to eat. One quirky restaurant is called Zizzi, an Italian food restaurant in a redundant church. The food was really good, but we did find the service a bit too rushed and pressured.
If you want a truely great place to stay in Cheltenham, look no further, The Beaumont Hotel really is a wonderful place to stay.
Great Staff at the Beaumont
My wife and I stayed at the Beaumont last weekend. The room we had was great, with everything you would expect from a hotel twice the price.
Breakfast was also good, with the fresh fruit salad a good touch.
However, I think the best aspect of this hotel is the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and whilst they were all very professional, they were also exceedingly friendly.
If you go to Cheltenham, stay at this hotel.

Extremely comfortable base for a city break
This hotel deserves all the praise it receives. It is a beautiful, grand building in a perfect location on the edge of the city - we were able to bypass most of the awful one-way system on our way from London, - and were able to leave the car in the car park most of the next day so we didn't have to pay for parking. It's about 20 minutes walk from the very centre of town. It's on a main-ish road, but set back from it, so I imagine that even if you were at the front of the building you wouldn't get much road noise.
We stayed in a standard room, which had just been refurbished, and was decorated in a modern, stylish way, and although it was in the basement it was very bright as it had a large window looking onto the lovely garden. It was a great size for one night's stay, but I think it could get cramped if you were staying for long. The shower room was sparkling clean and very new, with an amazing double-headed shower, but we did have a small problem with a chloriney smell coming from it, which the owner explained very satisfactorily ans said was a temporary problem. It din't spoil our stay in any way, so only a tiny complaint, really!
The lounge is wonderful, and I especially liked the touches of the honesty bar and the free coffee machine. We felt very relaxed sitting there.
The staff are great, but in an informal and relaxed way, so don't expect anyone to carry your bags or fawn ver you (not that we did - we much prefer the relaxed style). They recommended a local restaurant which was just right (Morans - unpretentious, good food, nice atmosphere).
Breakfast was very good - an excellent choice, and really, really nice coffee!
All in all, exactly what we wanted - a very comfy base for getting into Cheltenham.
We stayed at the hotel for a long weekend at the end of March. Their advertising said that they were No 1 in Tripadvisor for Cheltenham and I totally agree. We stayed in the newly refurbished first floor suite (I think it was room 7) and it was absolutely wonderful. A real friendly welcome with wonderful service - they had a problem with the hot water whilst we were there and offered us a 25% discount for our last night - without us even complaining. We didn't take the discount as we had not been inconvenienced as we used our 2ND electric shower. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
A Lovely Place to stay
We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of May in the Out of Asia room. It is more like a fantastic bed and breakfast than a hotel. Our room was great, the staff and owners friendly and welcoming and the breakfast superb. It is a little way out of the centre - a good 15 minute walk and it is on the main road. However, even though our room was at the front it was not at all noisy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Walking distance to restaurants and stores
Hotel and room were very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and gave us great advice on the shops and restaurants in Cheltenham. This was a great location to venture out from to see great attractions, such as Blenheim Palace. If you stay here you must eat and drink at Norwoods. It is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
Small but lovely
I had a one night stay for work. The location is excellent and the parking good. The building is lovely, and the staff are helpful and friendly. The lounge with mini bar (honesty) was restful. The breakfast was very very nicely done. Only disappointment was the size of the beautifully appointed room in the eaves - on a warm night it was a bit stuffy. Minor quibble! I would certainly recomment.
An Excellent hotel!
We used the Beaumont for a weekend break, after reading reviews on this site and we were not disappointed. We stayed in room number 7, the luxury family room. It was lovely! Very spacious with large bed, a sofa and dressing table. Brand new throughout and immaculately clean. The bathroom has a large shower and separate bath.
The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries and of course, the full fry up which was great.
The hotel is in a good spot, only 15 mins walk from Cheltenham centre. The owner gave us a map at the reception desk which gave us a short cut.
We would recommend both of the restaurants that we tried too. On the Friday night we went to The Langton which is a modern gastro pub. 3 courses and 2 drinks each cost a total of £60 and the food was fab. On the Saturday we went to The Merlot brasserie in Cheltenham's centre, which again was excellent and was a bit more pricey, but worth the money.
I would definitely stay at the Beaumont again as I thought it was fantastic and the friendly service was superb.
As wonderful as everyone says... and more!!
What a fantastic experience from start to finish! We booked the weekend of 22nd June and stayed in the Out Of Asia room as a 10th wedding anniversary treat. The room was beautifully furnished and of a very high quality but it was the little extras that made it so special.
We were made to feel extremely welcome from the start. We were shown around and then our bags were taken to our rooms.
Every single member of staff was so friendly and attentive without being over the top. There was an excellent choice at breakfasts and the service, as always was superb.
We could not find fault if we wanted to and cannot wait until we are able to go again!
We highly recommend you stay here!!
Stayed at the Beaumont House last weekend. Originally thought the room prices were a little high but with all the good recommendations on Tripadvisor decided to give it a try. Thank goodness we did! It was exceptionally clean and the staff very attentive. We stayed in Room 9 which is classed as a Kingbed studio and had everything you required for a shortbreak. The food at breakfast was lovely (not many guesthouses include smoked salmon for breakfast) and the honesty bar was reasonably priced with large measures as standard.
Cheltenham centre is about 20 mins walk away if you use the direct route to Montpellier by going down Painswick Road which is opposite the hotel. Otherwise a little longer if you walk via Bath Road but this has local shops, pubs and restaurants along it.
Would not hesitate to go back if we are in Cheltenham again.
