prominent buildings in Croydon
"Croydon Clocktower"
A fairly attractive building, the clocktower is part of the complex that houses the town's impressive library, David Lean cinema, Exhibition Gallery, café and some Council buildings. I'll create a tip on this soon (in the meanwhile check out www.croydon.gov.uk/leisure/artsentertainmentculture/artsentertainment/croydonclocktower/
"Grants"
Once a department store (if you look under the 2nd floor windows you can see the names of various clothing departments written), the front of this listed building was retained whilst the rest was demolished to build a multiplex cinema.
"Croydon, home of Nestlé UK..."
The signs in the train station proudly proclaim this. Personally I boycott Nestlé, but in Croydon it's fairly unavoidable, being right in the centre of town on Park Lane.
Unfortunately this is another of the many 1960s buildings which adorn the town centre, and which I personally find rather unattractive.
"Norwich Union"
Another highly visible building on the edge of Park Lane, this blue glass edifice provides a modern home for the Norwich Union offices.
