Take a double decker bus tour,...
by alohabrendon
Take a double decker bus tour, even though it's very 'touristy' you get to see the sights and you can decide which sights you can return to. The tours are fairly inexpensive are narrated through a set of headphones. If you're not familiar with the city, these tours also help you get your bearings. The pubs! There are so many, it was hard to choose which one to go into. They all seem to have such a great atmosphere.
Be considerate

When in london be considerate of ur hosts, when taking ur host along with u take a tube pass for ur host aswell. travellin is costly in london. Travelling in the tube is what i miss the most, never mind the stiff upperlipped British attitude but still u can have fun staring at those faces that represent a whole gamut of cultures, lifestyles n traditions.
Visit a Museum or Gallery!! :)
by Jenniflower
The following museums and galleries are all free for the general public (you and I!) to enter (apart from special one-off exhibitions):
The National Gallery (Trafalgar Square)
The National Maritime Museum (Greenwich)
The Museum of London (Barbican)
National Portrait Gallery (Charing Cross Road)
The Imperial War Museum (Lambeth)
The British Museum (Bloomsbury)
The Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum (all at South Kensington)
A Photographers Gallery is currently held near the Town Hall along the thames... it was previously held at the Natural History Museum. It is well worth it!
Squirrels - the locals are grey ones though!
by angiebabe
Grey skirrels can be seen pretty much anywhere and everywhere around London!somewhere to eat and somewhere to live you will probably see a squirrel.
Its the red squirrel though that is native and the grey skirrel has taken over - there are special breeding and red squirrel preservation areas such as up at the Lake District - so its extremely doubtful you will see a red squirrel down here around London.
I still think the squirrels are cute - and funny to watch - scampering around the place - and even more so the audience they often get cooing and ahhing after them.
Pack light!
by hailsbails
I took a simple backpack over to London and Dublin, and i tell you what, i STRUGGLED. Carrying 30 kg in the tubes and around London wasnt my idea of fun!! Pack light!! Something i wasnt very good at!! A comfortable pair of sneakers are a definate essential..I was too worried about looking good over comfort, which really screwed me in the end! Of course depending on what time of the year you go you will know what is suitable. I went in summer, and London was just sticky and hot...So obviously opt for light clothing! And a few jerseys and pants for colder nights! Some face cloths will help with sticky weather, a instant refresher. Something small, but can make you feel like a million bucks more!! There is much to photograph around London..I didnt take much photos as i got sick of sightseeing by myself pretty quickly. But i could have easily taken 4 films in a day! So really stock up, its well worth it and something fun to reflect back on!!! I lived in with friends for free! I really dont suggest going on the tubes with so much packs, i really struggled, it was quite embarassing being picked up off the floor after falling over face first because my bags were so heavy for my body!! Every hour in London, is rush hour!!!
