The Tower of London - the Ravens
There's a legend that the Monarchy will continue as long as the ravens inhabit the Tower of London...so these pampered guests put up with a bit of wing-clipping in the interest of national security!

I will be in London on Feb. 14 which coincides with Chinese New Year. I checked couple website and learned that the major festivity on Trafalgar Sq. will take place on Feb. 21. will there be any fun activities in China Town or anywhere else on Feb. 14? would appreciate any leads. Olya
Leicester Square is fun to be around that time, I loved the dragons procession and dancing on the street. They will enter restautants and buissneses, to bless them for good year ahead, lots of crakers going off and ppl generaly haveing fun. Some of the restaurants were handing out some food and special sweeets..Lots of lanterns everywere....
Just looking at the procession will lift your spirits and you will join in the celebrations..
The Trafalgar Square/Leicester Square celebrations, on 21st, will indeed be excellent fun (and crowded).
There are some special exhibitions etc running during the week prior:

I can't find anything specific for Chinatown on 14th (http://www.chinatownchinese.co.uk/) though I'm sure the area will be pretty festive-looking! :-)

Shop at Selfridges in Oxford Street - it's a beautiful old building, and the company is a well-known name.
It's not quite as 'glamourous' as Harrod's, but it's a lot more affordable!
If you're visiting mid-November through Christmas, Selfridge's has one of the best seasonal displays on the street. The company's home page is at http://www.selfridges.co.uk/index1.htm
You'd never know it from his face but this happy chappy was playing the funkiest honky tonk in town!! I caught his eye, pointed to my camera, he nodded approvingly so I took the pic and left a quid in his hat - as had a few hundred others before me - and he deserved every penny!! It was fantastic. If you are in Brick Lane on a Sunday and you hear great music - it will be Big John Carter - the Piano Man! On this trip?? This guy would be my fondest memory. :))
In London, there is a project called Rent a Local Friend - www.rentalocalfriend.com
Locals make themselves available to show visitors their favourite spots: shops, bars, restaurants, parks, views and hidden gems
Its very reasonable and definetly interessting experience!

British Telecom is supposedly removing its big red telephone boxes. I hope they don't get rid of all of them. There's something oh-so-English about the big red telephone box. You can't really tell here, but I'm inside the booth trying to make a phone call, only I don't have a phone card, so it's pretty much a lost cause. Still, it's hip.
