art shop (gallery)
by ktselios
Hello!
I will be in London next week for the first time in my life. I was wondering where I could find some art shops (with posters, canvas etc) of modern art near to the centre. I am looking for 3 or 4 unstretched modern theme canvas in a budget price. If you know any places that I could have look please write below...
If there is any URL please provide.
Thank you

There are plenty of galleries ('art shops' are those which sell art supplies)in London, but I doubt most of their prices are what one would call 'budget'.
I'm not really sure what you are looking for, but you can find info about galleries (and/or links etc) here:

Travel Tips for London
I want to see the Big Ben!
by lolitajane
The first thing I wanted to see in London was the Big Ben. I think I was so excited about seeing it because since I was a child I've been seeing pictures & everything related to London had an image of the Big Ben attached. It was like "In Paris I have to see the Eiffel Tower, in London the Big Ben". I liked everything in London, the city, the buildings, the history, the streets, the markets, I even liked the food! And I swear that I'l go back some day...
Pharmacies
by Marpessa
Generally if you are not from the UK you may not know the name of local pharmacies (for tissues, aspirin/panadol, cold medicine and other personal items). Two of the main ones are 'Boots' and 'Superdrug' (both can be found on Oxford St)

Foundations of Britannia

Stroll along the Strand. At one spot the 4 C's of English history meet. The church, the corpsmen, commerce and the courts are joined right here.
First, St. Clement Danes, Central Church of the Royal Air Force. It is a minor masterpiece by Sir Christopher Wren. Then Lloyd's Bank, representing centuries of English trade and mercantile exchange around the world. It faces the Royal Courts of Justice, separated by a sliver of road and a monument to Queen Victoria and her Prince Albert. There are sufficient historical connections along this 100 meter stretch to provide half a dozen prospective PhD's with dissertation material, don't you think?
The pubs

Our tour guide told us that the hanging signs above the pubs reflect the pub's name. This is a tradition from when most of the population could not read. And ironically we went to the pub where Dickens hung out at back in the day.
FANCY DRESS: BRIT LIFE ©
by DAO
Men? Fancy Dress? Sure! Women and children too. Fancy dress is not a garment, it’s a bit of British fun! Dress up as Superman, Wonder Women or Scooby Doo! From movie characters to super heroes, it’s always a good time to dress up! Often people do this to celebrate milestones like Birthdays and Exams, but some just do it. I have seen the full gamut from Vicars to prostitutes, French maids and even complete cross-dressing. Hmmm. That last one may not have been fancy dress.
Just about every town has at least one fancy dress shop where you can rent a full range of costumes. Enjoy!
