Nice trendy hostel

I stayed at the Ace Hotel with 14 of my friends, and everybody was very satisfied !

The rooms were very clean, and the beds confortable. There is a common room with plasma tv, pool, video games and a bar. The atmosphere is young and fun.

You have the choice between rooms of 4, 6 or more beds. With or without bathroom.
I stayed in the 6 bedded room ensuite and it was really nice. Some of the rooms are smaller though.

The breakfast is free and includes tea / coffee, juice, croissant, scones and cereals.
There is an internet access (for a small fee).

I would absolutly recommand the place !

Unique Quality: There is a garden that must be nice in the summer !

Nice for a London hostel

I've stayed in this hostel twice. Some things have changed, the breakfast is not as good as it used to be (they used to offer different types of spreads, cheeses, toast etc. and what you get now, are croissants, scones, marmelade and cornflakes) and water was quite cold, so it was a chilly experience when taking a shower.

Unique Quality: But in general, I'm satisfied with them because it's clean, safe, warm, they have the internet room and the staff are also helpful. I will go there again.

Great budget alternative

Great place to stay in London. Not very central, but still worth every penny.

This is a modern hostel, cheap and great clean rooms. Ok staff, a bit expencive in the bar, but no problems.

Ok breakfast.

Could stay here agian, but still so many places to choose between in London.

Best hostel I've ever been !

The ace hotel is by far the best hostel I've ever been.

What a great suprise and pleasure to check in this new and comfortable place where everything is designed to make your stay a great moment.

Most of all I would mention that the hotel is SO clean. The staff keep on watching and cleaning so you feel like you're in a great place.

The staff is welcoming, friendly and organised.

The only minus is that we were in room 302 which is the only one with a very noisy motor inside running every time a person was using the bathroom located just next to this room.
Next time I'll specifically ask for another room but it didn't keep me from sleeping.

Unique Quality: The hotel is located in a very residential area which is a plus (as far as I'm concerned I'd rather sleep in a calm place that a noisy one).

Inside the hotel the bar is also a place to hang out with large sofas, 2 huge TV, a pool table.

A internet access is provided at 1£ / 30 minutes. There may be wifi access (as I saw people in the bar with their laptop) but I'm not 100% sure.

The price of the room included a quite good breakfast : tea/coffee/cereals/orange juice.

I went for a twin room but most of the rooms are rather 3/4/6 shared bedroom.

The bathrooms are shared but as I mentionned, the staff is so obsessed with cleaning that the bathrooms are always great.

Clean & Convenient

I stayed here for three days towards the end of my trip. The hostel is quite clean, close to the West Kensington tube stop & 30 min. walk to the V&A. There is a complimentary breakfast served every morning. Its located in a pretty safe and quiet neigbourhood & the hotel is also very secure. You can get private rooms w/an ensuite bathroom as well as dormitory style accomodations. The duvets are fantastic!

Unique Quality: There is a bar downstairs that offers snacks as well as drinks, a yard w/a hot tub, laundry facilities, internet lounge and is a 10 min. walk from a 24 hour Tesco. You can get items like towels, batteries, locks & laundry detergent at the front desk. Its easy tube ride from Heathrow.

As upscale as a Hostel likely gets

Have stayed here on two different ocassions, once for only two nights, second time for a week. Recently renovated, good staff - clean place! Some rooms (ones I stayed in) are en suite dorms - so share with fewer people.

Probably a bit pricey for some parts of the hostel crowd but not others.

Unique Quality: Easy access to Picadilly and District lines - two tube stations at an easy walk - safe neigborhood - back deck

Hostels in London

by eenelfje

Going to London in late August, backpacker budget way. (private twin room with ensuite shower and toilet).

Have been searching all over the internet for days but cannot make my mind up about a hostel to choose.

After all my research it left me with (the Astor hostels seemed nice too but they have an age restriction)

London House Hotel (no good reviews at all)
Wake Up Hostel (mixed reviews, seems to be noisy etc)
Ace Hotel (has good reviews but seems to be a bit out of town and the private room has ensuite facilities but this means no shower or toilet ensuite but only a sink)

So cannot choose..............does anybody have experiences with the above hostels or do you have a reccomendation for a good, clean, reasonable hostel ?

Thanks in advance.

From my experience in London you can either have a budget accomodation OR a room with ensuite shower and toilet. The Atlantic Hotel and Alexander Hotel in Bayswater are somewhere in between a hostel and a hotel, have a look at their web sites.
