Recommended places to eat in China Town

by blackrainbow86

My boyfriend and I are visiting China Town in London and were wondering of any nice resturants that people can recommend? Cost doesn't matter.

Many thanks

The best and cheapest place is Wong Kei(sp?) on Vardour st in China town.
address:
41-43 Wardour Street, London, W1D 6PY
Telephone: 020 7437 8408
It is over 5 floors, the waiters apear to be rude, you are put on round table for 12 with strangers, no lingering over your food, BUT the food is to DIE FOR and is extremly cheap and big quantities.
Wong Kei (sp?)is best keept sicrets and never advertise, but everybody knows about it.. Word of mouth is best adverisment. they have over 100 different dishes on their menue. You can raly eat well for £15 for two.
It has been around for donkey ears and i used to go atleast 3 times a week when I was an student in London some 17yrs ago, nothing changed, still dish out best Chinese in town...
I still go there every time I am in London, nothing beats their won-ton soup and sweet & sour pork...
enjoy :D

China town is a lovely area of London. There are several good restaurants in this area.
New World and Royal Dragon are some of the best restaurants in China Town.
New World has a really cute exterior, which leaves you with every impression that you are stepping into a Chinese restaurant. The food is superb. And Royal Dragon has great food good prices and very lively.

Hope it helps.

Mmm, I wouldn't really recomend Chinatown at all to be honest. Every time I've been, to a number of different restaurants, the service has been rushed and the prices high...Indeed they get quite cross if you sit there longer than 30 minutes as they're obviously trying to cram in as many sittings as possible. I'd get a tube out a bit and find somewhere out of chinatown.

Travel Tips for London

Hyde Park

by JennJenn

Just a great big ol' GREEN park where you can hang out. I think you're supposed to pay a pound for 4 hours in one of these chairs, but I'm not too sure how that all works.

But parks are where everyone hangs out on nice, sunny days. Fun for people watching.

The summer on northern hemisphere is over

Now we count the falling leaves as we remember the hot carefree days of summer,
now we start waiting for first snow and Chrismas ,already Chrismas cards in some shops.
Days months will pass and once again Spring................. All seasons has something interesting and pleasant in London,I shall wear my heawy overcoat and brave to cold winds...

Beware of Americanisms

by lianghh

Coming from an American-speaking background, do not ridicule yourself by thinking that London speaks the same language you do. Well, mostly yes, but just like going in any other country in the world you should learn some basics!

Working in a hotel I still get many American tourists who who do not familiarise with the foreign currency environment and talk "Dollars", or refer to the British Pound in a derrogative way of speaking ("Can I exchange some dollars to... erm... your funny currency" - Seriously, this happened more than once to me!). Also, some people believe the Euro is used in the whole of Europe (it's those tourists who think Europe is a country with Paris as its capital). Seriously, British people take pride in their coins with the queens head on it, so please pay some due respect, just as I do (although even I do want the pound to be defeated by the Euro).

Do not refer to the underground system as "subway", that's only a fast-food chain or a pedestrian way underneath a busy road. The London word for metro is "The Tube".

Fear Nothing

by pieter_jan_v

Amazing what you can come across in the Trafalgar underground walkways:

BRITONS!
Your NELSON is dead!
Trust not in a arm of flesh, but in the living GOD!
What said the brave NELSON, DUNCAN, HOWE?
"GOD has given as the VICTORY!"
His arm is not cold in Dead, nor shortened that it cannot Save.
BRITONS!
Fear GOD, Fear SIN, and than Fear Nothing.

England expects that every man will do his D U T Y
