Pretty nice hostel.
Ashlee house hostel is a well run no thrills hostel near Kings Cross.
Security seems much better there than in most other London hostels.
The staff was very nice and helpful and they had good facilities in the hostel like laundry, Internet and a nice common room where people were welcome to sit with their own beers after the pubs had closed at 23.00.
The hostel is also a little more expensive than some other hostels in London, but it's also better run than most other hostels and i think most backpackers, especially female backpackers, would prefer to pay a couple of pounds extra to stay there.
Unique Quality: Nice reception staff that seems to genuinely like their job and the clients they are serving.

Unique Quality: Internet kinda pricey, clean bathrooms but dorm style (stalls etc.)It was difficult to do laundry if you needed to..they had laundry facilities but those were only open during certain hours.

It may have changed over the years, but I remember it from years back as being very basic and in a bit of a grim area. I would recommend Generator hostel

aimed at young backpackers - the london one is very central - also basic but in a much nicer way
