Vodafone is good. And seeing that you are from Spain, the Telefonica subsidiary O2 is good.
There are CARPHONE WAREHOUSE outlets in many places and they have choices. Current Sale offers:

I have used both Vodaphone and O2 with no problems.

I've had Orange pay-as-you-go for years. No priobslems (including using it elsewhere in Europe).
More up-to-date comparison site here:

You can buy cheap payg mobiles with a variety of providers from large supermarkets and the umpteen phone shops you'll find everywhere. My most recent purchase cost me just over 20GBp (including 10GBP credit).
You can check UK coverage for the various providers here:

Hi,
This may be a little late but... I am on Orange and I have been for several years, including a few members of my family and a few of my friends. They offer a lot of offers on P-A-Y-G.
The main ones are:
Vodafone
T-Mobile
Orange
o2
Virgin
I think your best bet is to go onto their website, click on pay as you go and then look for the best deals which suit what you are after (i.e. phone calls, txt messaging, internet deals).
The main companies in which you can purchase these from are:
Carphone Warehouse
Phones4U
or the individual networks shops (i.e. The Orange Shop, The o2 Shop etc.)
You can get cheap handsets if you need one of them aswell along side your SIM card (where again, there are usually many offers if you purchase both together). You will find something from any of the above networks/shops.
Good luck!!
Travel Tips for London
Calling cards!!!
by alycat
Keep in touch with folks back home with a host of calling cards. There are lots of calling cards at offer for people willing to call anywhere in the world. The costliest places to call despite using a card is Asia, Middle east and Africa. The cheapest places are US, Australasia and Europe. These cards are found at most of the shops all over London and on high streets.
Priced at 5, 10 and 20 pounds, u get these cards all over London. In central london u will get these cards at exactly the same rate as it it printed on the card, but if u wud to care to save a lil, u might as well buy these cards in east london or west london where they are quite cheap, ex u will geta 5 pound card for 3.50. So if u intend to stay in the Uk for a long time make a single trip to east or west london n grab a few cards to last a fortnigth. i got lucky once and a 5 pound card, which usually gives 30 mins of talktime gave me a whooping 55 mins!!!
Tower of london and Tower...
by eladr
Tower of london and Tower Bridge.
Founded nearly a millennium ago and expanded upon over the centuries since, the Tower of London has protected, housed, imprisoned and been for many the last sight they saw on Earth.
It has been the seat of British government and the living quarters of monarchs ... the site of renown political intrigue, and the repository of the Crown Jewels ... It has housed lions, bears, and (to this day) flightless ravens ... not to mention notorious traitors and framed members of court, lords and ministers, clergymen and knights.
TOWER OF LONDON Tower Hill, EC3 Tel: (0171) 709 0765 Open: 1 Mar-31 Oct, Mon-Sat 0900-1800,

Westminster Churches: St Mary-le-Strand
by yooperprof
An outstanding baroque Church in Westminster, St Mary le Strand sits in the middle of one of London's busiest thoroughfares. It was built between 1714-1717 and was designed by James Gibbs, the classically (Italian) trained architect also responsible for St. Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Sq., and for the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford. A beautifully rich and warm interior. St Mary-le-Strand was damaged during the 1940 Blitz, but not irreparably.
Pimms and Lemonade...
by AmyBoa
I was introduced to a warm weather drink that is Pimms mixed with lemonade (add fruit of choice) by a Londoner. Oh how a break for this refreshment made shopping the markets much more enjoyable!
Try one!
Have a sense of humour!
by angiebabe
Some might say the Brits dont have a sense of humour but of course we dont agree with that! look at the great comedians and comediennes of the humour world and the great comedies we have grown up with - I think the Brits do like a laugh and with the sense of humour and wit that Australians and New Zealanders are world renowned for (!!) where else would we have got that from? - but from our forebears the Brits of course (and they were the ones who thought it hilarious to ship the Scots and Irish off 6 months in leaky boats to the colonies way down under!)
Anyway - I still find this photo prompts a laugh - a bit of a long chuckle actually - so when you are out and about doing your serious tourist thing bear this in mind that this could happen to you too!!
