 | | | | Travelodge London City Liverpool Street: at this price....so worth it! Compare Rates NEW! | Satisfaction: | | | | |
this hotel is in a great location, but they wont take bags if you arrive early , so if you do , leave your bags in liverpool st station to avoid carrying them back up!! its 6.50 a bag to store them there. the hotel itself was fine, clean rooms , plenty of tea /coffee, just ask at reception if you need more, they are friendly enough for a cheap and cheerful hotel, i stayed for 2 nights aug 26-28 in a family room with 2 kids, 26 pounds a night for 3 people in london is a steal! must say though they really should clean the carpets in the corridors , they absolutely stink, not so in the rooms just there. cafe bar was average, but the breakfast was a disaster, staff had little english , hadnt a clue who had ordered and everyone was left standing around for 20 mins whilst the waitress went to get milk! we left and bought breakfast elsewhere just to avoid this happening to us too! overall, its great for the price and really near all sights because of train station, id stay again at this price and would highly recommend it for a cheap and cheerful weekend .

I needed a quick place to stay on a layover home, just 1 night, and the Hotel Desk at Heathrow booked me here. The location is good, seems a lot of hotels are in this area (Bayswater/Queensway) near Hyde Park. The bathroom was very very nice and quite comparable to Americana Standards. I would say the bathroom was the highlite of this accomodation. Granite, marble, well lit, new and probably an entire 40 sq. feet. I am not a fan of flowerd decor and actually have a low tolerance to it... so the bedding was not to my taste. The room had a nice window, but overall there was a smell in the room that I could not air-out. The linens were nice and clean.
There is a non-staffed instant coffee bar in the lobby, rather un-impressive. They do have wireless internet access, but I hate traveling with the bulk of a laptop (hey, for that weight it could be at least 2 pair of shoes!) They do have one computer in the basement that is coin operated to the internet and quite possibly dial-up - slow - but beggers can't be choosers, it worked. Well located and close to Queesway and Bayswater Tube Station. Just 3 blocks away you can get lots of shops and restaurants. As my previous hotel reservation got cancelled for some unknown reason I found this hotel at Venere.com. Two nights for the total price 74 sounded great, and when I took a look on the hotels website it looked nice. If a picture tells more than a thousand words, this time they were all lies. Situated just two minutes from Paddington Station the location is great. There are a bunch of wonderful restaurants and pubs in the close vicinity of the hotel. That’s the upside of things. I got a small room on the third floor (no elevator), with a toilet but with a small sink. As I lied down for a good nights sleep I felt a cold breeze move over my whole body. As I stood up I understood that it came from the window – it had almost no isolation! The walls were thin and I could here all other guests as they walked up the stairs, watched TV and even when they spoke in a subtle manner. I also found out the downside of the closeness to the Paddington Station. I could hear the late night trains and the Underground. Of course, breakfast wasn’t included in the price and the service – from a man that I think was from Eastern Europe – wasn’t anything special. My tip to fellow travelers: Put in an extra pound or ten to get a better accommodation and make sure to read all the specifics about your hotel/hostel. Next time I’ll be staying at the Hilton! Cons: It’s noisy, it’s windy, it’s cold, it’s not hospitable, it’s small, it’s tacky. Pros: It’s cheap.
I had a balcony just putside my window. I couldn't get to it, but it looked... like a balcony.
