The hotel is conveniently located near Earl's Court tube station, at the edge of Zone 1. The neighbourhoods are very quiet, but it's only five minutes walk to busy high street with shops, restaurants and grocery stores. The room was not that roomy, but enough for two people. All basic amenities were in place and the towels were fluffy.
The hotel is of boutique size, only a few rooms per floor. The breakfast is excellent, compared to the normal London hotel offerings. And it is served in a sort of winter garden room. | | | | Vancouver Studios: Charming and well-sited Compare Rates NEW! | Satisfaction: | | | | |
Staying alone in London can be daunting, both safety and price-wise. Vancouver Studios is reasonably priced (65 pounds/single - excellent value for an -albeit small -apartment with perfectly adequate cooking facilities). And it is just around the corner from Bayswater and Queensway tube stations, with a great shopping centre 2 minutes away. The streets are busy and multi-national, well-lit, with loads of restaurants. The hotel is in a charming 4 story building, with a cute lounge (with attached garden and internet access) on the ground flooor and a coin-operated laundry in the basement - a real bonus!
First, Vancouver Studios is intimate, spotlessly clean and has loads of character. Second, its position is perfect - very handy to tubes (use Bayswater for preference, Queensway has scary lifts!) and it has shopping and restaurants on the doorstep. The only downside is no lifts - OK for the first two floors, but then it's attic stairs for the next two - but once you're up there it's fine! I would thoroughy recommend and will stay there again! | | | | Various: Hotels near Gatwick and Sights of London! | Satisfaction: | | | | |
This is a reply to a Forum Question re someone arriving at Gatwick, and wanting a hotel near to the sights of London. Hi! 3 hotels I've stayed in the past few years - nearest to Gatwick - Arora National at Crawley. I paid £48 for a single room plus £10 taxi from Gatwick to the hotel, by phoning the hotel to arrange this was cheaper than just getting a taxi from the airport. I was very impressed by my room, and the service I got. This is a hotel that has won awards for its outstanding customer service! Royal National Hotel in W1, so pretty central for sightseeing,There is a ticket office in the hotel lobby for tours of London. Very reasonable prices - I paid £66 for a single room, with full English breakfast. Supermarket opposite is open til late at night. A pub is open in the hotel on the ground floor til late, so best to book a room anthe higher floors away from the noise. Ambassadors Hotel in Kensington, again I only stopped 1 night (as with the above hotels). I paid £48 for a single room with bathroom - Breakfast is extra £5 continental, £7 for cooked English breakfast. I'd also suggest Venere.com , Bookings.com or Hostalbookers.com etc for more ideas on hotels/hostels, B&B's etc. Please visit my London and Crawley Hotels and Accommodations tips for more info, or feel free to contact me for more info. | | | | Various: FINDING ACCOMMODATION | | | | | |
We didn't get to stay there because they cancelled our reservation and offered no help in finding other accomadations. Evidently, according to the hotel we finally found, the Victoria Inn overbooks regularly and then just puts the overbooked guests out on the street. This is not a fancy hotel, but we like to stay at small, family-run places when possible, but this place was not up to standards. It was more of a 2 star hotel and the people there were very rude.

 | | | | Victoria Park Plaza (239 Vauxhall Bridge Road.), SW1V 1EQ: A Plaza let down Compare Rates NEW! | Satisfaction: | | | | |
I recently tried to book a two day conference in March and was told information regarding dates, prices etc would be sent via e-mail. The business centre assured me the information would arrive shortly and I am still waiting two weeks later. (I have since found a different venue). I have stayed at this hotel on numerous business trips and each time found the experience a disappointment. The hotel is very appealing with its large glass front, large wooden reception area, incredible pieces of art and excellent decor. However, do not be fooled! It's frosty, aloof staff is so dreadful, you'll be left wondering why you have paid for £180.00 per night to stay when so many good quality 4 - 5 star hotels are on offer. The location is across the road from Victoria Train Station, 15 minute walk from Victoria Coach Station and 20 minute train/bus ride into the heart of London. Onsite Fitness Centre including Swimming Pool, Gym, Sauna, Steam Room and Beauty Treatments available for additional cost. Conference Facilities, good facilities in each room, TV, toiletries, Mini bar etc. JB’s Restaurant offers a European Cuisine at good value, catering for vegetarians with an impressive wine menu. JB’s Bar with a large selection of cocktails, at 4star hotel prices, and is the perfect location to come and get away from the hustle and bustle of bars/pubs in Victoria. Although a glass of wine will set you back £3.70 for house white.
The decor is amazing and the pieces of art through the lobby area and bar will amaze you. Long sticks wearing a pair of Jeans and a 7ft painting will inspire.
