My husband and I will be in London for five days mid September. We have booked a room at the Chelsea Lodge Hotel at 268 Fulham Road. Anyone know anything about this hotel? Also what can we expect regarding the weather?
Thanks you for your help. Andrea
Bad timing on your request for info to plan your vacation. :(
You are absolutely correct. My apologies to all of you that have been touched by this horrible attack. This is indeed a day of great sadness for you in London as well as all of us.
We are coming to London to visit dear old friends and I don't know yet if they are alright.
But I think it might be of some help to you in London to know that we and others like us will not let this day prevent us from visiting your beautiful city.
Andrea, check out TripAdvisor.com. There are three reviews for that hotel.
Can't tell you much I'm afraid other than the room rate looks pretty reasonable for London. If you are going to be using the tube a lot, do bear in mind that your nearest tube station (Fulham Broadway, on the District Line) doesn't connect with any other tube lines, so you will always have to travel two stops to Earl's Court for connections with lines that will take you into areas of Central London. It's only a small inconvenience but worth being aware of. Also, depending on which website you look at, it seems there is either a pub or a bistro at ground level at the Chelsea Lodge Hotel. Depending on how you look at it, this might be an advantage or a disadvantage (possible noise?) As for the weather in September... you never can tell with London. Before you fly check out the 5-day weather forecast at www.bbc.co.uk. Enjoy your stay.
Used to work just up the road. Hotel was just a bar when I was there.
Fulham Road is an interesting area. Check to see if Chelsea are playing while you are there. As you'll see from the map you're very close to the stadium. That may be an issue for you. Usually no trouble but can get very crowded.
Depending on what you're looking for in London this could be a very good areas to stay. Shopping on the Kings Road, museums at South Kensington a short bus ride away, lots of bars and restaurants.
As the last posting said weather could be practically anything - although unlikely to be snowing! So come prepared.
Enjoy your trip
