Monument

Memorial Column for the Great Fire.
Built for memory of a great fire in 1666,started from a bakery and destroyed 4/5 of whole London. They say that the buildings must build by brick and stone later.
We see a broken wall left here at the side of the Column and the scene of the fire is painted on it.

That would definetely be Covent Garden ..smile I miss London period .. London has a special place in my heart and i am absolutely in love with the city .. its mixture of old and modern astonishes me every time .. the history of the town goes back to Roman times and its intriguing past gets me every time .. I enjoy talking walks all over but mostly Westminster and City ...there is so much to see .. the city breathes in its own unique way... mesmerizes me every time .. hard to explain why or how really .. you need to go and see for yourself .. the rainbow of memories i have of the place is wonderful .. smile
Safety

London is a very safe city taking into account its size, you are able to go anywhere in the centre at any time - in some districts a little more caution is advised though - at the North End of Notting Hill, Brixton, Walthamstow, Peckham and anywhere near Elephant and Castle - but it's generally safe otherwise.
As a woman I walk in many areas on my own, but I am cautious, like I would be in any city. There are nasty people everywhere!
The tubes are also safe at night, albeit the usual drunks that make life a little less savoury for the rest of us on Saturday nights.
But on the whole, I feel pretty safe in London.

For those of you that are foreigners as myself when visiting England, remember to be polite. It's better to say 'thanks' and 'please' too many times than being disliked by the people that you meet. And if you decide to visit the crowded tourist-places, don't rush. Be patient, don't lose your temper, that won't do any good, just ruin your day. At the end of my little London page, I've got a picture of the world famous London-taxis, here they are standing in line outside the Tower of London, just waiting for one of the many tourists to hail them.
