On my first stay in London all I heard was about the hotels. Not only how expensive they were but how small they would be and so on. Therfore I would have to say I was very lucky in booking the Country Inn and Suites in Kensignton. Now if your idea of a hotel is a grand palace with a large lobby, gaudy appointments and the like perhaps this place is not for you. The hotel is quiet and understated occupying a neighborhood outside London that although is quiet is still very close and convinient to dowtown. Remember: -You are a mere 5-6 blocks from the Glouster Road tube station, the walk is even and easy and on a well light and seemingly safe section of Kensignton. The tube obviously links you all over London from there. -I must say while I would have thought I wanted to stay in the heart of London there was something very comforting and nice about spending the day in the hustle of bustle of London but then coming home to our hotel in our quiet little section of Kensington. Also please underdstand you are still in London, you are roughly 12-15 blocks west of Harrod's so I do not want to make it seem like you are miles from town either. -It is very easy to hail a cab on Crowell Road at all hours of the day or night. -For worried travelers or those new to traveling abraod as I and my family were we also appreciated that a supermarket chain Sainsbury's sat next to the hotel. This came in handy all week for a late night juce, soda etc. or for a missing toiletry item. -My only complaint were the elevators which were tempermental at best, fortuantely I was on the 2nd floor so it had no effect on my stay.

A very understated but satisfying breakfast each and every morning. The staff running the hotel could not have been nicer. When traveling for the first time from the States with my family my real fear was I would be at a hotel were you felt out of place and strange about asking too many questions etc. The staff from the desk person to the person hailing your cab went out of their way to make you feel welcome whether it meant talking about a local restaurant, booking a tour for you, getting you to a show on time or explaining why you will never catch them on the London Eye. All in all they made you feel welcome to the country and make you feel safe to ask for something or information I felt other places would have had the staff rolling their eyes at our "American" behavior.
