A short stay at the Days Inn

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on February 10, 2014

The Days Inn Hyde Park is a budget hotel that provides a useful base for exploring London. It is within easy walking distance of Paddington railway station where you can catch trains to other areas of southern England. At Paddington, you can also use the underground rail network to get all over the Greater London area.
The hotel itself was undergoing some renovation during my stay which meant that after around 9 in the morning I could hear some banging going on. This didn't really disrupt my stay as I was making the most of my time in the city and only really using the hotel to sleep.
The hotel serves a Continental style breakfast which was totally acceptable and the staff who checked me in and out were pleasant and professional. My single room was quite spacious by London standards and had its own bathroom with walk-in shower. The bed was a large single and very comfortable. I had no trouble sleeping. The room was serviced every day to a very good standard. A minor headache was that the wi-fi that the hotel provides is appallingly bad. I could barely get any reception in my room and when I could, it would just cut out after a minute or so.
I enjoyed my stay at the Days Inn and in spite of its shortcomings, I would stay again as it is in a great location and priced very reasonably.

Unique Quality: Nothing really outstanding, but if you are looking for a cheap and safe place to stay with good transport links and comfy rooms, the Days Inn Hyde Park ticks most of the boxes.

Directions: A couple of minutes walk south from Paddington Station and about 5-10 minutes north of Hyde Park.
