Budget hotel near Paddington train station needed

by asvetlana

I'll be overnighting in London on 3 June just before an early flight from Heathrow and would appreciate a recommendation for a not-too-expencive (up to 50 pounds) hotel close to Paddington train station. A quick check at hotels.com came up with Brunel Hotel and Edward Hotel, but the reviews on tripadvisor were terribly mixed.
Has anyone stayed at any of these hotels recently? Or maybe someone can suggest another place in the area they personally liked?

I'd advise against the Brunel, the Edward is OK.
As you refer to "I" and not "we" I'm assuming you're after a single room.
If that is the case I'd have no hesitation in recommending the Cardiff Hotel. You should get a single around 40-45 GBP most dates with breakfast and its about 100m from the station in a nice garden square

Thanks for your suggestion, I'll keep it in mind for the next time. I already booked with Premier Travel Inn Heathrow - close to the airport and just a notch above my price limit, but with much better reviews. With breakfast out of question (I've got to be at the airport at 7 a.m.), cleanliness and quietness were the most important criteria, as well as convenient access to airport.

The Cardiff is perfect. I have stayed there before. It has small rooms but is clean and in your budget. It has a kick ass breakfast and is less than 100 meters to Paddington.
