More about Gainsborough Hotel

Lots of great art to see

by 807Wheaton

Belvoir Castle contains a notable collection of furniture, porcelain, silks and tapestries, sculptures and paintings.
There are examples of fine French furniture, Italian sculpture alongside paintings by Gainsborough, Reynolds, Holbein and Poussin.

Tate Britain

by Chamsa

A fascinating gallery focusing mainly on British painters with goodies from Turner, Gainsborough, Blake, Constable, Bacon,...and of course the wonderfull Pre-Raphaelites with works from Dante Gabriel Rossetti and others. Fascinating!

Tour Burghley House in Stamford

by no1birdlady

Burghley House was built between 1565 and 1587. It was home to the Cecil family for over 400 years and their descendants still live here. Today it is lived in by Mr. Simon and Lady Victoria Leatham who is an expert on the BBC's ANTIQUES ROADSHOW. The estate was a self-contained village with their own fish ponds, orchard, dairy, turtle ponds, cows and sheep and garden. We took the tour of the house which began in the massive kitchen which was the first room to be built. There's a big fireplace with a spit out in front to cook meat on. Large turtle skulls (from turtles cooked) lined one wall! There is also a chapel here and 18 state rooms. There's a total of 240 rooms! It's amazing. There are a lot of interesting paintings here also such as some by Gainsborough.

Waddesdon Manor

by iandsmith

This is, to put it quite simply, my favourite house in the whole world. "House" did I say? Sorry about that. Any similarity between my humble abode in Newcastle N.S.W. and this place is purely co-incidental thought they are both family homes. The difference is they are Rothschilds and we are Smiths.
Yes, it just goes to show what a few banks can do for you though, as in owning, not borrowing from. There's another difference.
Waddesdon Manor was built (1874-89), in the style of a 16th century French chateau, for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to entertain his guests and display his vast collection of art treasures. It houses one of the finest collections of French 18th century decorative arts in the world. The furniture, Savonnerie carpets, and S?vres porcelain ranks in importance with the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Louvre in Paris. There is also a fine collection of portraits by Gainsborough and Reynolds and works by Dutch and Flemish Masters of the 17th century.
Then, naturally enough, if that's not sufficient for your upmarket tastes, you can tipple on their private wine selection, grown in their own famous German vinyards of course.

Have a look at local listings on the web for Horley or Crwaley , these are probably the closest towns.

Is that 300 ppm for the 3 of you together in one room?

According to the Student Support & Guidance website, there are 2 student houses near to Gatwick: "Springwood" and "Gainsborough". Per person, the rates start at 35pounds and breakfast is included. That might be a good starting point and you can browse the local paper for available rooms in houses in the area.

You might want to look at www.findaproperty.co.uk.
I'm not sure if they have furnished rooms listed, but they might.
