Camden markets
by johnfromoz
Just wondering, is it better to visit the Camden markets in the morning or afternoon? Is one more crowded than the other? Will either catch the waterbus there or leave via the waterbus depending on your advise. Many thanks in advance.

Camden opens at 10 and the first couple of hours are usually the quietest with the crowds building up through the day. The markets are open 7 days a week but weekends are much busier than during the week when not all the stalls will be open.

Weekends can be very busy indeed, especially if the weather is decent.
But even in the week I'd prefer to be there earlier rather than later, from a crowd point of view.

Morning!
This is a great opportunity to buy chinese food or Falafel from the various stalls inside and enjoy a sort of picnic in the bustling surroundings.
These are usually inexpensive, hot and very tasty and the reason my family enjoy going there!
In winter, there are also stalls selling mulled wine/Gluhwein or mulled cider......mmmmm

Is this the company that you are using for the canal trip?
http://www.jasons.co.uk/
If so, note that the commentary is only given one direction and that is from Little Venice to Camden.
"On the leg from Little Venice up to Camden there is a live commentary from our trained guides who will tell you all about the canal's history from 1800 to the present day."
Whichever you decide, having lunch there is a great idea, lots of different booths with all kinds of cheap ethnic offerings.
Travel Tips for London
everything good in life are free (almost)
by kaia4
The many beautiful parks in London. There you can bring food and relax while watching the people pass by you.. very interesting and best of all: totaly free! After a hard shopping day my friends and I had no money left, so we whent to Kensington Park and just lay down in the gras and slept, talked and relaxed the rest of the day. It's such a good memory and it will definetly not be the last time!
Monument to the Blitzkreig
by littlesam1
I love monuments. If you have read any of my other pages you will know that I always make room for monuments. I really like obscure monuments that you do not necessarily find in guide books. I found this one near St. Pauls cathedral. It is a monument commerating the bravery of the citizens of London during the Blitzkreig.
Mural off of Carnaby Street
by Elodie_Caroline
This pretty mural is painted on a wall down a little side street just off of Carnaby Street. I don't know if it's still there now or not? But it was a lovely treasure to find when we did though; the colours were really vivid and looked wonderful in the late afternoon sunshine.
It's a pity that all graffiti can't be as pretty as this isn't it.
Tower of London - The Broad Arrow Tower
by kris-t
This tower takes its name from the broad arrow that was stamped on goods to show their royal ownership. In later years the tower became a prison and contains many inscriptions made by prisoners who were held here in the 16th and 17th centuries
Spending most of my time in...
by l_joo
Spending most of my time in this Garden. I like a place more quiet than the city, this is my choice. I would say the culture here was whenever I walk down the Underground there was one guy or two playing guitar singing, screaming. Also Londoners like to wear black color walking very fast, I don't know why? Also saw some oldmen/lady with a dog sleeping by the roadside, according to Lina, they can claim some money from government to buy dog foods but eaten by the owner actually. Then the most important culture here was beer drinking, starting as early as 5pm at every corner. They drink beer like eating rice in Asia after 5pm. From what Mickey told me, they are peoples of %#$&@...hahaha I don't know.
