London in Easter?
by charlene_aquilina
Hi everyone, I'm going to be in London for the Easter holidays and I was wondering if we'd be able to find any pubs open for lunch time on Easter Sunday. Any suggestions close to the Tower of London, please?
Thanks :)

Hi!
Pubs will be open for lunch; there's one across the Thames from the Tower, on the south side of Tower Bridge.

Pubs generally open normal Sunday hours on Easter Sunday.
It is only Christmas Day which has different opening hours for pubs.

I'd recommend any of the following:
The Dickens Inn in St Katharine's Dock- very close the the Tower
The Globe in Borough High Street - for historical interest, Shakespeare is reputed to have drunk there
The Hornimans, overlooking the Thames, opposite the Tower, nr HMS Belfast
The Market Porter, Borough Market, nr London Bridge - lovely , unspoilt, traditional English pub
And yes, they will definitely be open over Easter.

Depending on your views about Wetherspoons pubs (some people like them, some think they are soulless), you coould try the Liberty Bounds right opposite Tower Hill with views over the Tower. It is not haute cuisine by any means, but I find Wetherspoons grub OK. It is quite big and usually busy but it seems to satisfy your requirements. Here is a link.

Hope this assists,
fergy.

Travel Tips for London
Visit A Traditional English Pub
by luke850
When you are in London, you have to visit a proper pub! Pubs in england are unlike any other pubs in the world. You can enjoy a cold pint, in a comfy environment and have a chat with some real locals. You can find them in or around London, and are identifiable by their unique names (such as 'The Cat & Parrot' etc) and their exterior designs, see left.
Big Ben!
by CandS
"There's Big Ben kids..." :) I think of that Chevy Chase movie every time I see this photo... ;) It was strange seeing it with our own eyes after seeing it on TV so many times...
Big Ben is located at the northern end of the Houses of Parliament. It is 320 foot tall. The bell strikes every hour.
Westminster Abbey
by rickyvilla81
For almost a thousand years Westminster Abbey has been the coronation place of our Kings and Queens. Begun by King Edward the Confessor, it was here that the Funeral of Princess Diana took place in 1997, when Elton John shook his eyebrows singing Candle in the Wind.
Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
by kris-t
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a London borough in the west side of central London, created in 1965 from the former boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea. It is an urban area and was named in the 2001 census as the most densely populated local authority in the United Kingdom Earls Court is a place in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London, UK. It is an inner-city district located 3.1 miles (5 km) west south-west of Charing Cross. It is home to Earls Court Exhibition Centre. The name is believed to come from a farm, Earl's Court Farm, visible on Greenwood's map of London dated 1827. The Earl in question may have been either the Earl of Warwick or the Earl of Holland, both cited as Lords of the Manor of this part of London
Traditionally (post-1945) a large transient population of Australians and New Zealanders stayed in Earl's Court, one of the cheapest areas close to central London: today, there are still large numbers of students or other people on temporary visas, although many of the Australians and New Zealanders appear to have moved to cheaper areas further North. Earl's Court is still known to tourists and visitors to London for its numerous cheap hotels.
