Hesperia London Victoria (ex Holiday Inn Victoria)

There is reconstruction going on nowadays, becuase the Holiday Inn Victoria became part of the Spanish hotel chain Hesperia so it might happen that you won't be completely happy with the current situation, for instance during my staying the hotel was under reconstruction, so I wasn't able to open the balcony doors of my room. In addition to that the hairdryer in the room didn't work.
However, I must admit everything is really clean and staff is friendly.
The good think that the breakfast is included in the price of your stay, so there are no additional expenses for it.
Restaurant is really nice and it has buffet so you're able to chose between typical English breakfast to only fruit or cereals or any kind of jam or honey that can come to your mind.
The waitress is serving tea or coffee and you will be also aksed whether you would like toast. There's also additional menu of other meals that can be prepared on request.
There's also swimming pool available till 22:00 so you can relax a little bit.

Unique Quality: The hotel has very good location, in a way that it's really just accross the street to Victoria station, from which you can take any type of transportation either around London or some more distant places.

Check the website for more info.

Holiday Inn Express

We stayed there for 2 nights on our return to London from Africa.
Worked out well for us, since its pretty central and we could dump our stuff and head out to shoot.
The rooms are pretty small, but they had all the regular stuff. Dont think they had any cooling though and during the day it got a bit warm inside the small rooms

Great London location

Chosen for it's location. Walk to ALL major tourist sites.
Next to Victoria station so easy access to underground.
Typical Holiday Inn, no more no less!

Now known as the Hesperia

The Hesperia Victoria is conveniently situated right next door to Victoria Railway, Coach and tube stations. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was part help yourself and part ask the waitress (if you wanted tea or toast).

The bath plug was complicated - and I had to ring for assistance!!!!! Honestly I don't know why a plug can't just be of the "push in pull out" variety? - why do people have to change the design of a simple, perfectly functional object and turn the whole thing into an awkward, embarrassing situation??? (But it was VERY funny, even at the time!)

The bar stays open veeeeerrrrrrrryyyyy late for guests and is of modern, trendy decor with lovely squishy leather sofas. I would definitely stay here again.

Update! - the hotel was renovated in 2004 and is now known as "The Hesperia".

Unique Quality: Much the same as any other Holiday Inn (Hesperia) anywhere else in the world - it was nice and clean and comfy and they were very keen on being environmentally friendly and everything worked... only.... our room didn't have a mini-bar!!!! There was a fridge sized space where it should have been... but it wasn't there... but it didn't spoil our stay!

Where to sleep

As usual on VT, old Cliffie is going to recommend Holiday Inn. The chain has about a dozen hotels in London, all reasonably priced. Well, reasonably priced for London, where city centre hotels can more or less charge what they want. But old Cliffie also has a brother who is in the hotel business, and he promised to give his brother's prestigious property a mention. Park Lane Hotel. There - happy now, bro?

More about Hesperia London Victoria

great palce to start shopping trips

by TripAdvisor Member ramsi

Was in Hesperia London Victoria Hotel for a shopping break (two nights), booked for 99£ on superbreak.com (including everything - breakfast, VAT, taxes).

Room was modern, spaciously and clean, breakfast was ok, not famouse for spoiled swiss travellers. Staff was very polite. Everything worked fine, comparing the former hotels on the same pricelevel Hesperia London Victoria was a great deal.

Location in the opposite of victoria station was a perfect point to reach all famous london shopping locations within minutes.

Would definitely recommend it!

beat expectations

by TripAdvisor Member roncurts

cannot fault this hotel- v reasonably priced,2 minute walk from metro, decent size rooms which were spotless, nice aircon and v quiet altho we were on the 6th floor which always helps
staff helpful and polite and nice variety for breakfast- cannot recommend highly enough

Great breakfast, nice functional hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

Room size was good for London I suppose (executive room). Buffet breakfast was fab! Really good range (10 different fruits, full English and continental, cereals.....). Only complaint was the room and corridors were very hot, air-con was ineffective, but it was hot in London. We payed £105 for a double incl. breakfast and got a free upgrade just by being polite. We would stay here again, but on reflection we would probably prefer somewhere with more character. But for a 'holiday-inn' style hotel, it's excellent. Like other reviewers recommended, we stayed at the back and it was very quiet.

Loved It

by TripAdvisor Member VALISAKAT

I stayed here for one night and it was fabulous. The room was modern and clean.Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It is so handy to the train and tube stations. The breakfast was excellent and had loads of choices available to suit everyone's requirements. I can't wait to return and would certainly recommend it.

I'll be taking the train into the city and arriving late...can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of the train station? Thanks for your help!

The Holiday Inn Victoria is just a minutes walk around the corner from the station and it is averagely priced (for London). Check the link for VTer's reviews (including mine):

I just booked my boss into the Hesperia London Victoria adjacent to the station (since he needed to be close to a ministry nearby and would need to get to Gatwick anyway). I was a bit worried since it's in a station area but he was very pleased with the hotel itself. It's a four star one in a famous Spanish chain but I got it for only 74 pounds since I booked on the official London tourist site where big hotels have great deals:

www.visitlondonoffers.com

(You can search an area).

Depends what you mean by reasonably priced.

The cheapest single rooms at the back of Victoria Station are going for as little as 21 GBP - but they're in 'hotels' that are only OK if you've an outlook the same as a backpacker.

The Thistle Victoria actually part of Victoria Station is doing specials for the next couple of months on many dates for 69 GBP, the Thistle Westminster about 100m from the station is also doing the same deal through online discounters. Lastminute.com are doing them even cheaper but don't name them, just says something like 4 Star Hotel by Victoria Station - you can tell which one it is by the description.

The Hesperia and Rubens Hotel are also close by the hotel but are around 100 GBP.

There are a couple of Comfort Inns at the back of the station by the coach stations which do rooms for about 70 GBP.

There is a map of most of the hotels around Victoria Station at:
