    If you like a bit more comfort than a bunkhouse will offer but are not willing to pay more than a room at the Travelodge or PremierInn would cost, then I recommend taking a look at this hotel. It offers competitive rates mostly beating the city locations of TravelPremierInnLodge and the like. I paid 75 pounds for my room, a somewhat spartanic Continental breakfast was included in that.

    The room offered sufficient wheelchair access with the bathroom being a bit small and uncomfortable due to a small shower seat -- a common mistake though.

    The hotel is located in a bohemian district that is fun to discover. Walking distance both to the financial district around Liverpool Street and the trendy parts of Shoreditch, Hoxton and Hackney. Excellent bus and tube connection to Holborn, Camden and Westminster.

    UPDATE 2007:Good rates for this hotel seem hardly attainable anymore -- each time I checked the rate exceeded 100 GBP -- for that rate the place is totally overpriced, don't go for it!

    • A small and compact hotel right beside a very busy road, and one minute walk away from a fire station, The hotel has a small reception with only 2 receptionists/counters for both check-in and check-out.
    The hotel looks new and the interior is clean and new, with single glazed windows in the rooms. The busy road gets very busy by 6.30am, cos I was woekn up by that time enjoying my view of the cars and vehicles on the road... And enjoy London waking up.

    It is a hotel with basic facilities. Clean room and bed with TV,hairdryer, ensuite (shower and toilet). The room I stayed in has no bath, only a small shower space. Coffee and tea-making facilities in the room too. If you want more coffee, you gotta wait till breakfast cos no extra. Towels provided. Shower cap provided as well. If you want toothbrush, toothpaste, razor blade, call the reception, but too bad if you need it at night cos they will ask you to wait till next morning cos the housekeeping store is closed.

    There's a cozy bar behind the reception for some drinks after a hard day of meetings, etc.
    The price of GBP90 for a single room that I paid includes continental breakfast. Selection of breakfast inlcudes croissant, toasts, banana, tangerines, cereals (6 types), butter, honey, jam, orange juice or apple juice, coffee and tea. That's all for the breakfast. No cheese, no ham...

    Overall impression:
    The hotel try to save in whatever ways they can. There are competitors out there for the price in a more quiet area. If you are a light sleeper, better not have a room along the busy road, and get woken up by sirens... Remember? The fire station is just 2 minutes walk away from the hotel. A place very safe from fires...

    Remember to make bookings at www.ichotels.com. It is the cheapest you can get on the internet for Holiday Inn Express (it is guaranteed, unless you try to bid on priceline).

    • As we have just come back from traveling and we were due to meet friends in London we needed to stay. What we didn't take into account that it was Valentines weekend. After a lot of searching we booked a room for two nights here. I stayed here several years ago.

    Holiday Inn's are pretty much the same, but seem to have improved over the years. We had a smoking double room with satellite TV, Tea and coffee making facilities and attached bathroom. Despite being a chain they have put a little thought into the room with spot lights and soft lighting. We had room 121 which had a large bay window letting a lot of light into the room. Buffet breakfast is included in the price. There is a bar there that is open to non residents until 11pm and 2am for residents.

    accommodation in London is not cheap, a bit of a shock after a year in Asia. We booked online and saved money by doing so. We paid £79 a night for the room including VAT.

    Convenient for the tube. Not far from Oxford Circus.
