The Holland House youth...

The Holland House youth hostel. A lovely building with friendly people, if a little off the beaten path.

Holland House Youth Hostel

Unique Quality: Every Facility is wonderfully nice!
Especially, I liked the environment aroud that Hostel.
You know, there are lots of parks in London though it is such a metropolis.
During I stayed there, I could walk in one of those parks in London everyday!!

Hollan House Youth Hostel

by Anapeteru

Hello to you all!
I'm visiting London for the first time on mid-October. I'll be staying at the Holland House Youth Hostel. Has anybobody stayed there ot has references to give me? Is Holland Park a safe place? I'll be alone for five days. Is it too far away from central attractions (I know V&A, Science Museum, etc are very close)? Are there shops, restaurants nearby?
I've been reading your posts and learnt a lot. THANKS!!!!!!!!

Holland Park is a very wealthy area full of big houses. Holland Park itself is a pretty London Park full of squirrels with a classy restaurant in the middle. Lots of nannies and au-pairs pushing their young charges around in baby buggies. In mid-October, the leaves will be turning brown and falling.

Kensington High St in one direction is a busy shopping area and in the other you have Notting Hill which has nice street market and lots of restaurants and bars.

Its nice, safe and in the hostel you will meet lots of other single travellers so you might find some company for your peregrinations.

I haven't stayed there, but can confirm that its location is EXCELLENT.

The only downside might be that it might be colonised by boy scouts or some other youth group on a cultural visit. The YHA is that sort of organisation, it is more 'join together and do the chores' rather than 'this is a hotel you are the customer'. So it has these big dorms and basic communal facilities. Those based in London are somewhat better equipped than most, but some foreign visitors are a bit surprised if they are used to hostels with single or double rooms.

Nonetheless, what they do, they do well and their hostels are in some very pretty places.

As has already been said the location is excellent. If you don't mind sharing a dormitory you will not find a better location in an expensive city. If you have time you will be able to walk to many places you want to visit. Enjoy your stay!

Thanks a lot for your responses. I know I'll have an excellent time visiting this extraordinary city and I'll enjoy staying at such beautiful neighbourhood.

On my return home, I'll write to let you know about the hostel.
