Have a look on the main VT HOME page...on the left ...half way down and find VT Meets...you can look in there to see what is doing or post your wish for a Meet there.....this post will eventually move out but the one in meets will stay there. It is a good idea to have it here as well though

Travel Tips for London

London Eye

by tucha

Towering 135 meters above the River thames, this is the wrold's largest observation wheel. It's a litlle expensive and probably you have to wait to buy tour tickets and again wait a while to enter.
But you never regret because is the only way to view the intire city, especially if you have only 2 ou 3 days to visir London. The view of the London panorama are
spectacular!!!
Join me here and enjoy the view!! :-)

Spitfire in Trafalgar Square

by easyoar

This was a very tough tip to categorise. I don't expect it will be happening again in a hurry, and it appearedto be done to help promote London's Olypic bid for the 2012 games.

As I walked in to Trafalgar Square I was gobsmacked to see an old World War II Spitfire sitting in the middle of the Square [and I didn't think there was enough space to land one ;-) ]. It appeared you could queue up and pay money to sit in the cockpit and do things like waggle the tail. Suffice to say, I satisfied myself with just taking some pictures. Here you can see the Spitfire, the base of Nelsons Column and then Whitehall and Big Ben far in the background.

So what about Soho?

by pedersdottir

The name reportedly originates in a hunting call, when the dogs were set loose to collect prey. The crush of narrow streets and tiny houses in this part of London are lightyears away from any resemblance of former Royal Hunting Grounds. Unless you count night stalkers.

Over the centuries immigrants crowded into this district and brought their trades with them: Hugenots and silkweaving; Mozart and musicmaking; Marx and class alienation. The latest arrivals are Hong Kong Chinese and their restaurants.
Somewhere along the way the sex trade slipped though the red doors.

Notre Dame de France is still home to a French-speaking congregation, although St. Ann's is considered to be the parish church for Soho district. She presides over the Soho Mural. Under her skirts are the plaques representing the guilds and crafts that once flourished here: cabinetmaking and saddlery, upholsterers and miniaturists. You can find her hanging around Broadwick Street at the corner of Carnaby.

Tower of London - The Bell Tower

by kris-t

The Bell Tower is the oldest tower in the castle after the White Tower and dates from an early enlargement of the castle in the 1190s. The curfew bell has been rung from this tower for at least 500 years although the present bell dates from 1651.

Participate in local pageants

The 2002 Golden Jubilee celebrations were amazing. As a tourist, you must speak to English people and find out why they like the monarchy so much.

They will explain why, and might even invite you back to their castle to enjoy a right Royal tournament of jousting knights and merry-making through the early hours.
