My first taste of Indian food was after midnight on Commercial Road with a group of friends. We'd split up in groups and were independently trying to find our way there. And got lost often, of course. It was more a takeaway than a restaurant. Formica table tops and a tap to wash your hands because there were no eating utensils. Great fun, huge laughter and great food! Definitely my fondest memory of London, because of the adventure, the friends, the food...
