Earl's Court boutique hotel

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 8, 2014

I tried to get a hotel on Priceline but was unsuccessful for what I wanted to pay so I decided instead to use some airline miles to get the K&K George located near Earl's Court. I loved the location of the hotel, it's just a 2 minute walk from the Earl's Court underground station and extremely easy to find. While Earl's Court is not the most central of locations, for a short trip like this one it's an extremely quick trip to and from Heathrow on the tube, there are lots of restaurants, two very large supermarkets on Cromwell Road and seems to be a safe area.

Unique Quality: The room was very nice, we had a twin room on the 5th floor. Twin room in many of the boutique hotels means two twin beds pushed together, I think we could have moved the end tables into the center and pushed them apart but that seemed like more work than I wanted to do.

The bathroom was stocked with every toiletry I needed-shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath gel, soap and even emory boards. The hair dryer was in the bathroom.

There was tea service, an in room safe, a TV.

Breakfast was included in our rate, it was a very nice spread with eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, cereal, meat, cheese, fruit, pastries, juice and I think there was even champagne for mimosas.

This is my favorite place to stay in London. The K&K George delivers a comfortable place to stay without sacrificing the authentic English experience. It is well-appointed, located in a quiet neighbourhood, yet easily within walking distance of many restaurants and conveniences, and Earl's Court Tube station is just around the corner. The staff is helpful, the rooms are updated and clean, a delicious full breakfast in included, and the garden is a plus.

Londons' Hidden Jewel

We stayed at Hotel George for two weeks in June 2005. The room was small but great. After all, all it's there for is to sleep and unload gifts. Convenient to Earls' Court Tube, right around the corner. Just off a main drag by two streets. It had beautiful surroundings and and a few local characters that lived in the vicinity. The laundry mat was 2 blocks away. Stores and restaurants right around the corner.

Unique Quality: The best thing was the water pressure. You could pressure wash a house with the shower. It was great.

Directions: Get off the Earl's Court Tube take a left and then another. go down approx. two blocks to Templeton place on the right and it's down on the left.

Clean Rooms and Nice Breakfast

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

Interior of hotel has a contemporary feel. Everything nice and clean. The elevator is rather slow and small, but this is a small price to pay to have the free buffet-style breakfast. No problems with staff and Earl's Court tube station is a short walking distance away. We would definitely stay here again.

Directions: Earl's Court

My daughter selected the KK George Hotel. It was an excellent choice. A charming place with a wonderful and huge breakfast. You don't have to eat another thing for the rest of the day after you finish this.

It is located in an wonderful neighborhood very near Earl's Court and the Olympia Exhibition Center where many trade fairs are held. The tube station is within an easy walk and you can get to Heathrow, the West End, Victoria Station and many other locations from this tube.

Directions: Royal Borough of Kensington not far from Earl's Court and exhibition center

a secret surprise

I would recommend this hotel to anybody. I cannot say enough good things about this little gem. The location, Kensington, off of Earl's Court, to the modern decor and all that entails, free wi-fi, etc. to their own secure on-site parking lot. But most importantly, The Staff! I've stayed there twice and made life-long friends in the process. In addition, they have this impeccable courtyard in the back that is abutted by private homes and is so serene and exquisite in its ability to wash off the harried vibe of inner London. Reflect upon the day with a nice cold cocktail followed by a smooth Cubano. It's just an all around great place with some very attractive staff from all over Eastern Europe and all parts in between. Also there is a fantastic Indian restaurant one street over (among many other options) that is open until 3:00 am for walk-in/takeout. The Tube is two blocks away. I offer one more piece of advice to the citizens of North America...rent a car, preferably from Hertz since they have superb vehicles at very reasonable rates, plus, if you fly into Gatwick and depart from Heathrow it's not a problem...I digress...the sheer joy of driving on the opposite side of the road while shifting w/your left hand (you have to get a 5-speed) is second only to the Autobahn or the Autostrada in Italy...at any rate, get a ford mondeo or something comparable, no emmission control devices...catch my drift? I have the utmost respect for the drivers of the UK, at least most of them...they KNOW how to drive and they like to get to there destination rapidly. Courtesy is an unspoken rule of the road. Driving in the UK, France, Spain, etc. is extremely gratifying for those of us who enjoy driving just for the sheer joy of it. Needless to say, upon your return to the States you'll be deeply disappointed at what a bunch of retards most American drivers truly are. Anyway, The K+K is reasonably priced and superb on all levels. One more thing...request a room on a high floor that faces the courtyard.

Unique Quality: I believe I covered them all in the above mentioned description. Oh yeah, they also have minibars AND air-conditioning that is controlled by the occupant of the room, not the building manager. For anybody who has travelled to Europe in one of the warmer months you'll understand this small but essential necessity. One more thing, if you do get a car be sure and go online and pay the "congestion area surcharge" it's like $12 a day depending on the exchange rate. Also, if you plan on going to Central London, etc. just call the front desk. They have a car service that is very reasonable and catch a cab upon your return. Also very nominal. A hasslefree way to enjoy your evenings out.
Cheers,
lane
