I would recommend this hotel to anybody. I cannot say enough good things about this little gem. The location, Kensington, off of Earl's Court, to the modern decor and all that entails, free wi-fi, etc. to their own secure on-site parking lot. But most importantly, The Staff! I've stayed there twice and made life-long friends in the process. In addition, they have this impeccable courtyard in the back that is abutted by private homes and is so serene and exquisite in its ability to wash off the harried vibe of inner London. Reflect upon the day with a nice cold cocktail followed by a smooth Cubano. It's just an all around great place with some very attractive staff from all over Eastern Europe and all parts in between. Also there is a fantastic Indian restaurant one street over (among many other options) that is open until 3:00 am for walk-in/takeout. The Tube is two blocks away. I offer one more piece of advice to the citizens of North America...rent a car, preferably from Hertz since they have superb vehicles at very reasonable rates, plus, if you fly into Gatwick and depart from Heathrow it's not a problem...I digress...the sheer joy of driving on the opposite side of the road while shifting w/your left hand (you have to get a 5-speed) is second only to the Autobahn or the Autostrada in Italy...at any rate, get a ford mondeo or something comparable, no emmission control devices...catch my drift? I have the utmost respect for the drivers of the UK, at least most of them...they KNOW how to drive and they like to get to there destination rapidly. Courtesy is an unspoken rule of the road. Driving in the UK, France, Spain, etc. is extremely gratifying for those of us who enjoy driving just for the sheer joy of it. Needless to say, upon your return to the States you'll be deeply disappointed at what a bunch of retards most American drivers truly are. Anyway, The K+K is reasonably priced and superb on all levels. One more thing...request a room on a high floor that faces the courtyard.
I believe I covered them all in the above mentioned description. Oh yeah, they also have minibars AND air-conditioning that is controlled by the occupant of the room, not the building manager. For anybody who has travelled to Europe in one of the warmer months you'll understand this small but essential necessity. One more thing, if you do get a car be sure and go online and pay the "congestion area surcharge" it's like $12 a day depending on the exchange rate. Also, if you plan on going to Central London, etc. just call the front desk. They have a car service that is very reasonable and catch a cab upon your return. Also very nominal. A hasslefree way to enjoy your evenings out. A big white palace of 5 or 6 floors in Templeton Place hosts the Hotel George. Being situated on a road parallel to Earl's Court Road, its position is superb, you can access all the restaurants, pubs, shops and supermarkets on Earl's Court Road in 5 minutes of walking, not forgetting the immensely useful Tube station and a couple of bus' stops. The hotel itself has some excellent points to boast, like a rich and variegated english breakfast, a free pc with a free internet connection available in the hall and, lest but not least, rooms that are a bit more spacious than what is custom in London (not at the same level of european or american ones though). The staff, very polite and always willing to have a couple of words with customers, is mixed, some are british and some other are of east-european origin. All of them speak good english. Returning to the rooms, they are furnished in a modern style, with small bathrooms as is often encountered in London; plenty of hot water, a nice hairdryer, an european electrical plug in every room, a good selection of tv channels (in english, french, german, spanish and italian) and a daily substitution of washcloths and bed linens make for a pleasant stay. The only drawbacks are the price (not exactly cheap) and a couple of little annoyances like the main table for breakfast too small for accomodating all the persons that it should serves or the door of the bathroom that couldn't be locked (I hope it was a problem of my room only). All in all, a very good but not cheap hotel.
Great location. Small garden available (if the weather is nice) Free internet connection Great breakfast The most beautiful receptionist in the whole world (you have to believe me, she is called Carina) Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageMap: K+K Hotel George
