Hidden gem in Kensington and Chelsea

This is my favorite place to stay in London. The K&K George delivers a comfortable place to stay without sacrificing the authentic English experience. It is well-appointed, located in a quiet neighbourhood, yet easily within walking distance of many restaurants and conveniences, and Earl's Court Tube station is just around the corner. The staff is helpful, the rooms are updated and clean, a delicious full breakfast in included, and the garden is a plus.

    Londons' Hidden Jewel

We stayed at Hotel George for two weeks in June 2005. The room was small but great. After all, all it's there for is to sleep and unload gifts. Convenient to Earls' Court Tube, right around the corner. Just off a main drag by two streets. It had beautiful surroundings and and a few local characters that lived in the vicinity. The laundry mat was 2 blocks away. Stores and restaurants right around the corner.

Unique Quality: The best thing was the water pressure. You could pressure wash a house with the shower. It was great.

Directions: Get off the Earl's Court Tube take a left and then another. go down approx. two blocks to Templeton place on the right and it's down on the left.

    Clean Rooms and Nice Breakfast

Interior of hotel has a contemporary feel. Everything nice and clean. The elevator is rather slow and small, but this is a small price to pay to have the free buffet-style breakfast. No problems with staff and Earl's Court tube station is a short walking distance away. We would definitely stay here again.

    Loved This Place

My daughter selected the KK George Hotel. It was an excellent choice. A charming place with a wonderful and huge breakfast. You don't have to eat another thing for the rest of the day after you finish this.

It is located in an wonderful neighborhood very near Earl's Court and the Olympia Exhibition Center where many trade fairs are held. The tube station is within an easy walk and you can get to Heathrow, the West End, Victoria Station and many other locations from this tube.

Directions: Royal Borough of Kensington not far from Earl's Court and exhibition center

    a secret surprise

I would recommend this hotel to anybody. I cannot say enough good things about this little gem. The location, Kensington, off of Earl's Court, to the modern decor and all that entails, free wi-fi, etc. to their own secure on-site parking lot. But most importantly, The Staff! I've stayed there twice and made life-long friends in the process. In addition, they have this impeccable courtyard in the back that is abutted by private homes and is so serene and exquisite in its ability to wash off the harried vibe of inner London. Reflect upon the day with a nice cold cocktail followed by a smooth Cubano. It's just an all around great place with some very attractive staff from all over Eastern Europe and all parts in between. Also there is a fantastic Indian restaurant one street over (among many other options) that is open until 3:00 am for walk-in/takeout. The Tube is two blocks away. I offer one more piece of advice to the citizens of North America...rent a car, preferably from Hertz since they have superb vehicles at very reasonable rates, plus, if you fly into Gatwick and depart from Heathrow it's not a problem...I digress...the sheer joy of driving on the opposite side of the road while shifting w/your left hand (you have to get a 5-speed) is second only to the Autobahn or the Autostrada in Italy...at any rate, get a ford mondeo or something comparable, no emmission control devices...catch my drift? I have the utmost respect for the drivers of the UK, at least most of them...they KNOW how to drive and they like to get to there destination rapidly. Courtesy is an unspoken rule of the road. Driving in the UK, France, Spain, etc. is extremely gratifying for those of us who enjoy driving just for the sheer joy of it. Needless to say, upon your return to the States you'll be deeply disappointed at what a bunch of retards most American drivers truly are. Anyway, The K+K is reasonably priced and superb on all levels. One more thing...request a room on a high floor that faces the courtyard.

Unique Quality: I believe I covered them all in the above mentioned description. Oh yeah, they also have minibars AND air-conditioning that is controlled by the occupant of the room, not the building manager. For anybody who has travelled to Europe in one of the warmer months you'll understand this small but essential necessity. One more thing, if you do get a car be sure and go online and pay the "congestion area surcharge" it's like $12 a day depending on the exchange rate. Also, if you plan on going to Central London, etc. just call the front desk. They have a car service that is very reasonable and catch a cab upon your return. Also very nominal. A hasslefree way to enjoy your evenings out.

Directions: Kensington area off of Earl's Court About 20 minutes away from Heathrow and 50 minutes or so from Gatwick.

Wonderful hotel

by TripAdvisor Member NolaYee

I spent a wonderful 3 nights at the K+K Hotel George in mid-August. After spending hours on the internet trying to find a moderately priced London hotel during the high summer season and becoming discouraged by the slew of depressing tripadvisor reviews for other hotels in my price range, I was pleasantly surprised by enthusiasm expressed by other reviewers for the K+K, and I heartily agree.

Although a little bit far away from the action, there is a tube station (Earl's Court) literally a 2-minute walk away, where you can get whisked straight to most tourist attractions within 5-10 minutes. The immediate neighborhood is quaint and convenient, and within a 2 block radius is a post office, bank, bakeries, pubs, pharmacy, Marks and Spencer convenience store (great for grabbing an impromptu snack or picnic), and restaurants.

Best of all, the hotel offers free high-speed internet access from two computers, and people were quite good about not lingering too long.

I would definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it.

We spent five days a K+K George, London and enjoyed the experience very much. The hotel is very accessible from the Tube and in a pinch, you could even walk to the hotel from Earl's Court station if your luggage is not very heavy. The rooms are indeed small by our US standards, but clean, well maintained and the internet access (bring your laptop!) very valuable in researching sights, opening times, booking resrvations etc. It was like a very competent concierge in your room. The internet access in the lobby is perpetually in use, though. The staff is very attentive, professional and try very hard to please. The breakfast was varied and substantial enough that we rarely bothered with lunch. London prices hurt with a pound at almost two dollars, but I consider this very competetive.

The most amazing duvets ever!!!

by TripAdvisor Member arttest

Stayed here end of sept. 2004 while attending a trade fair at the local exhibition center. We chose this hotel based on its good reviews from this web site, and we definately were more than pleased. We were delighted to find a great deal from londonnights, which left more spending money in expensive London. The hotel is located in a lovely, safe residential area and is only 15 minute walking to loads of shops on High Street Kensington.

The room was a perfect size- perhaps the bathroom was a tad small, but all in all the distribution was very functional and comfortable. The beds were dangerously comfortable- we were very pleased to have duvets rather than being stuck under those nasty hospital corners!! It was really helpful having WIFI, as we managed to do some work too.

The breakfast buffet had something for every diet and the bar was laid back and fairly priced. The reception desk was very professional and helpful, but some of the breakfast staff seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed!

Definately would come back to K+K George.

Great location; wi-fi in the room

My husband, nine year old daughter and I stayed at the K and K in July and were totally happy with the place. My husband was thrilled to be able to access the internet in the room free of charge (which is why I put it in the title) and I was happy to be in a place that was so clean, offering a very generous breakfast in the morning. The big selling point for my daughter was that they offered nutelo (a rather awful chocolate and hazel nut spread that kids love) in the dining room and she could spread it all over her croissant. The front desk is efficient but not exactly chummy -- which was fine with us. Our room was not big but it overlooked a big back yard which they called the garden.

Above average hotel in London

by TripAdvisor Member G2Gtravel

I stayed for six nights in August 2004 with my two daughters (age 15 and 11). The first five nights we stayed in a room facing the front of the hotel, which was small and could be noisy at times. On our way back from visiting mainland Europe, we stayed one night in Room 004, which was a little larger and located off the beautiful garden. I definitely would recommend this room above all others. The rooms were clean and simply appointed (dorm-like). The breakfast is a buffet, full English breakfast and very expensive (approximately $24/person). The hotel is located only 2 minutes from Earl’s Court Tube station, which you will need to get to the London sites. It was great to have free Internet access in the lobby. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would stay at this hotel again.

Hi, I haven't stayed there but there are plenty of really good reviews for the place on the net. Lots on Tripadvisor. Location is good as you can walk to the tube station in a few minutes and this gives you easy access to all London's attractions.
