Lily: Functional, but wouldn't write home about it

The Hotel Lily was near a cousin's home, so I first heard about it as a place where my parents & grandparents stayed when they were over. It was a basic hotel. I stayed there on my last night in the UK, picked it for the price and the fact that I knew where it was. Walking distance to the tube station (don't remember which one, mind you), and a continental breakfast was served as part of the price. The room was actually bigger than some of the single rooms I've seen in the UK. The worst experience I had was that the fire alarm went off and I didn't know if they were testing it, or if it was an actual fire... nobody seemed to be reacting. A little off-putting, to say the least.
