Marriott County Hall -Lovely Hotel
by A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Marriott County Hall, London last month. The welcome at Reception was personal and terrific. We choose a riverview room which was on an upper floor - very luxurious but the view was blocked by the London Eye and on complaining we were immediately moved to a fabulous room with great views of Big Ben and Westminster Bridge. Service and enthusiasm of all the staff in this hotel was exemplary the whole week-end. Swimming pool is great as were the breakfasts which are served in a very stylish curved room overlooking the Thames. Not cheap to stay here but worth every penny.

Visit County Hall!

The County Hall was built from 1911 to 1958 (the two world wars meant construction was slow) and for many years housed London's government, in the form of London County Council and the GLC.
Today, it is now a leisure complex and has the London Eye ticket centre in it, Dali Universe, the Saatchi Gallery, London Aquarium, a Namco Entertainment area, London Marriott County Hall and a Travel Inn. There are also some restaurants in it.

You have paid for a nice room, and perhaps it even has a great view so why go out? It may be one of the few things Hillary Clinton and I agree on -- room service is a luxury. When I travel to a city my husband and I usually decide to just have room service on two out of ten evenings.

Fantastic Location, Maintained Well & Great Pool for Kids
by TripAdvisor Member FamAdventure
Our 3-30-04 5 night family vacation was a big hit with everyone because of the Marriott County Hall and the great tips that I received from previous reviews on Trip Advisor. As suggested - I asked about upgrades upon our early check-in and within minutes (and a slight increase in the room rate) we had a river view balcony (small) suite with an incredible view of Parliament and the London Eye! The staff was very accommodating. The proximity to the bus and tube stops was very short walk. Only a few concerns - The pool hours for kids were slightly inconvenient. The food at the main restaurant was only ok, but expensive - even for London. The arcade attached to the hotel was another great diversion for the kids, after a full day of history seeking. The concierge staff was outstanding. Great suggestions on how to get discounted theater tickets even though this method earned them no fees!
Great Location, Great View
by TripAdvisor Member mjdallas
We stayed here for 6 nights in November. Our room had both a coffee pot and a tea pot (with a great assortment of tea). I loved the separate make-up table with a lighted mirror. Our room overlooked Westminster Bridge, Westmister Abby and Parliment. There was an antique auto rally during our stay and we had a teriffic view of the cars from our window.
Convenience on the Thames
by TripAdvisor Member MrsG60
Our trip began in London, where we had booked a 'Visit England' 3-nite special at the London County Hall Marriott. We were right next to the London Eye, near several Tube stations, and most of all near the Waterloo Rail station, for the continuation of our vacation. The convenience of this location, County Hall, cannot be overstated. There is also a Travel Inn in the County Hall complex. Travel Inns are for couples, or those with small children. For three adults, the Travel Inn will not allow three per one room. I would try to go with the Marriott, for spacious rooms.
London, Central London , Greater London
by KittyLou
When I first created a London page I set it up under "Greater London" and I threw in all the Central London and close to London things I had. Now I have traveled back to London again and again. It seems time to seperate the "central" from the "greater" . My Greater London page still exists and has many photos. I hope you will visit it also. Cheers!
Westminster Bridge is often mobbed with people taking photos. I had the good fortune to stay at the London Marriott County Hall in December 2004. I took this photo from my hotel room (#222)window.

Where should I stay
by NewMike
I will be in London 1-3 days. I have not quite made up my mind. My question is Where should I stay. I am an employee of Marriott, so I can get a discount at certain locations. Here are my choices when I pulled up Londan
London Marriott County Hall
London Marriott Kensington
Mariott Maida Vale
London Marriott Marble Arch
Marriott Regents Park
West India Quay
Any suggestions, I am looking for a location that is near restaurants and night clubs.

There's another Marriott near the Financial District - want to say it's a Rennaissance - quite a great building! I was Marriott Platinum at the time and we were treated like royalty. Must have been the Chancery Court -
We were not much into the bar scene but it seemed close enough to most places, or easily reachable by public transportation.

I don't actually know the hotels themselves but County Hall would probably be the best location, in my opinion :) There is lots to see and do around thee, plus Waterloo train & underground station too.

Marriot Marble Arch is more or less next door to Hard Rock Cafe and a 5 minute walk down Picadilly to Soho, Leicester Square and Covent Garden where I'm sure you will find more nightlife than you could manage in your timescale

Well spotted Martin, you're absolutely correct. I'd forgotten about the one in George St. It's still well located

Hi Mike, I would definitely recommend that you stay at County Hall. It's a great location right near the river and within easy walking distance of London's main attractions.
Hope this is of some help.

Stayed in County Hall a while ago. Super location to just about everywhere. Stayed also at West India Key, which I thought was out of this world, everything glass, superd breakfast, but no swimming pool and extremely quiet at night. Best bet - take Country Hall and ask for Big Ben/London eye view. Rooms may be quite a walk from elevators though but not a prob.
