LHR to LGW

by appleseed81

I cleverly booked a connecting flight from LGW without realising the journey from LHR requires 75 mins on the coach...

Question here is, is there airport transfers counters at LHR? That goes by a fixed rate from LHR to LGW?

I can't seems to find information on that. They only have metered taxi listed.

Response from google all requires advance booking...

Advance booking will get you a cheaper price.

There are taxis outside the airport of course. You are probably looking at around 70GBP+.

Re: LHR to LGW

by leics

Assuming you actually have enough time for the transfer (??) it would be far better to take the coach, and miles cheaper.

http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_gatwick_transfer.htm

has info and links.

www.heathrowairport.com is an excellent site. Click on "to and from heathrow" at the top of the page, then click on "travel between airports" at the bottom right of the page that comes up.

The web site mentions you will need 3 hours from the time your planes lands until check in at the other airport.

Thanks ppl... Cheapest I managed to get is 57 pounds... If only I opened my eyes and see...

Re: LHR to LGW

The coach only costs 19.50GBP Is there a reason why you can't go by coach?

Re: LHR to LGW

by appleseed81

Leics, I know it cost 19.50... I booked it and I didn't realise the difference between the 2 flights is 3 hours not 4... then i changed that to another route for another day for 5 pounds...

Stupid mistake... no choice have to pay more in order to meet the flight...

Re: LHR to LGW

by leics

O, bad luck!

Did not realise you had so little time to transfer......

Re: LHR to LGW

by hawkhead

As both the bus and the taxi follow the same route, I should assume (but may be incorrect), then either mode will take as long as the other depending on the traffic. You will only save time by having the taxi waiting as you exit arrivals, rather than having to find the bus stop and then wait for the departure time. Best of luck!

Re: LHR to LGW

by appleseed81

Thanks Hawkhead... I think the journey is about 45 mins on taxi right outside the terminal whereas for the coach it takes 75 plus me getting to the bus station with my luggage and locating the bus...

Thanks for the note. :)

Re: LHR to LGW

Taxi will take around hour at most times of day/night....but I'm sorry to say that the route is frequently congested, so it may take longer than this.

Re: LHR to LGW

Re: LHR to LGW

You can also ask for a seat hear the front of the plane, so that you can be amongst the first off.

Travel Tips for London

Visit the Tower of London.

by Dionosaur

The guides are very entertaining and the crown jewels are awesome!
I was surprised to see all the ravens on the grounds. They are not afraid of people at all and are interesting to watch. They can be quite intimidating when they decide to yell at you. Seeing Cats was the highlight of my trip, or so I thought. Then when trying to see Buckingham Palace while everyone else was at the Remembrance Day ceremony, we had the incredibly good timing to see the Royal Family drive by on their way to the ceremony. That was a real treat, even for an American.

Yes, I'm a *** because I can't remember the name of this church and I'm way too lazy to look it up right now. Anyway, it's very pretty and I believe that this is the church where Princess Di was married to Prince Charles.

St Barnabas Church, Dulwich

by alucas

This fine modern church was built to replace the Victorian church which stood on this site until destroyed by fire in December 1992. The design is by the architects Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, and the church was built by R Durtnell and Sons – the UK’s oldest building company (founded in 1591). The church was completed in 1996 at a cost of GBP1.5m. The structure is innovative, and the spire is unique in being made of glass.

St Barnabas Church is in Calton Avenue in Dulwich Village, just five minutes walk from North Dulwich station, and not far from the famous Dulwich Gallery.

Tap - Hot and Cold water

by MedioLatino

One thing that drove me crazy (OK it didn't I just found it weird and not really convenient :): the water taps which give you or cold or hot water, but you can't mix it.

If anyone knows why are the taps like this in England (if the is a good reasoning beyond the tradition of course), don't hesitate to send me a note! Thanks! :)
