Meeting Place in Terminal 5 LHR

by hbmama

My stepmom and I are meeting at LHR Terminal 5 on June 23. I am flying from California and she is coming from Denver. Can anyone recommend a place (maybe on the baggage claim floor) where we can meet and is easy to find? Thanks for your help.

The baggage reclaim hall at T5 is not so huge that you will miss each other. One can just wait by the exit until the other arrives.

But there are also two specific 'meeting points' at T5, which might be a bit nicer for the person who is waiting (there are toilets in baggage reclaim, but nothing much else).

Go to

http://www.heathrowairport.com/portal/site/heathrow/menuitem.572b72a575f279fba4b12871120103a0/

and click 'airport maps' on the l/hand menu, then T5.

This link might work directly:

There is a meeting point marked (four arrows pointing towards each other) on the ground floor Arrivals level and another on the ground floor onward travel level.

At least the waiter will be able to get a cup of coffee there! :-)

I enjoyed sitting at the KRISPY KREME area which is just near the final arrivals exit door at Terminal 5. I also enjoyed a coffee and a KRISPY KREME - it was my first KRISPY KREME and quite tasty. Hopefully if you choose this venue one of you won't have to wait too long or maybe you will get addicted to KRISPY KREME doughnuts. You can walk outside easily from here into the fresh air. From the Terminal upper level outside you can see Windsor Castle in the distance.

there's a nice caffé Nero on the departure floor (lifts take you straight up there - it is not such a big terminal - very user friendly). There are nice comfy chairs (faux leather arm chairs). Can recommend it. It is before secuirty and easy to find (far left)

Agree. Trouble is, it's always been packed when I've been in T5. :-(

I assume you don't have hours to wait until you meet each other? I'd take one of the previous suggestions, probably the Cafe Nero, although if you only have an hour or so, by the time you've done all the customs and immigration and so on, then I'd just wait by one of the 'meeting places'.

Thank you, this information was very helpful. We are scheduled to arrive 30 minutes apart, so hopefully it will not be a long wait.

Watch a play or musical at Theatreland

by dixonchan

Indulge in an afternoon or evening play/musical in Theatreland.

I watched Phantom of the Opera in Her Majesty's. It was a wonderful and refreshing experience for someone who has never watch a musical in his life.

Tower of London details

by Ash59

To find the Tower, go to Tower Hill underground tube station. For a photo opportunity, right above the tube station is a viewing platform which allows you to view the Tower without crossing the road. The viewing platform also has an information plaque that shows the outline and names of the various buildings that you can see from the platform. The Tower of London opening times are as follows:-

Mar-Oct, Mon-Sat 9-6 and Sun 10-6
Nov-feb, Tues-Sat 9-5 and Sun 10-5

Cost adult approx £10

Website:- www.tower-of-london.com

This is a great website, written in conjunction with the yeoman warders of the Tower. I really recommend that you take a look for some really interesting information.

Getting the munchies in Brewer Street

by Mariajoy

The Source is an expensive but pleasant enough cafe in Brewer Street, Soho. We popped in for a coffee and cheesecake break. One slice of strawberry cheesecake with two coffees came to just under £9.

The coffee was average and the cheesecake a little too moussey - but it seemed happy enough :)

The English Language, changes...

by Luis_Alberto

The English Language, changes somewhat for Americans coming to this country, words like 'dispensing chemist' for a pharmacy, or are you in queue? = are you in line?. Are a few of the unique qualities of the British English. Another very important thing to remember is drivers in England, still drive on the left side, not on the right, like most countries. I believe they are finally using the decimal system for their currency, although, they have not addopt it the Euro yet. Here is my rendition of the Tower Bridge of London.
