Where to buy womens suits in London?

by vonkje

Anyone can recommend a shop/department store in London where we can buy nice womens suits? Not the high end designer stuff but just a good looking suit. Thank you.

Thomas Pink on Jermyn Street often have nicely cut and affordable women's suits.

Also worth trying Simpsons of Piccadilly, and Selfridges.

Between these 3 you're bound to find a suit of the style & price you're after.

Good luck :-)

Debenhams across the London area are a good choice for clothes. Marks and Spencers too.

Apart from M&S (excellent), maybe try John Lewis on Oxford St or Peter Jonews on Sloane Sq?

M&S, Next, Principles, Debenhams, Wallis, Oasis,TK Maxx, British Home Stores (BHS), are some places to start looking. Also charity shops Covent Garden and posher areas of London. You might find a 'worn once' suit for a bargain price. I bought a nice designer jacket from Oxfam in Richmond for a few pounds.

If the weather is bad and you want to stay indoors to shop head for the giant Westfield shopping centre in west London (Central Line) or Canary Wharf in Docklands (Jubilee Line).

Travel Tips for London

The Rolling Stones

by Blatherwick

This was by far my best experience in London. I was checking out the possible shows that I wanted to see in the West End. So, I'm looking at Les Mis, Phantom, Miss Saigon and...Oh my God! The Stones are playing at Wembley tomorrow night! So on July 11, 1995 I took in the Rolling Stones at Wembley Stadium for 25 GBP.

I think that the most memorable part of the experience was being in a stadium with 100,000+ people who all knew the words to every song. The Rolling Stones even sang Bob Dylan's, "Like a Rolling Stone." What a great time!

One of my favourite things about living in London is the squirrels!

They are so cute and I love it when they run around with their tails bobbing about. And how amazing are their tails - they are so thin at the end, just like a feather!

Locals liken them to rats....but as an aussie girl, it is still a novelty for me to see them!

I guess they are like the possums back home. I especially love seeing them when they are eating a nut, so serious in concerntration.....but always keeping an ear open for approaching trouble.

I love watching the ones that live in a big tree outside my kitchen window - always busy busy.

Buy the 'Time Out' magazine....

by ellenron

Buy the 'Time Out' magazine. Everything that happens in London during the week is listed here. From art exhibitions to dance parties, from theater to stand up comedy, from cinema to rock gigs, if it isn't listed here, it doesn't exist.

Greener Park

by rickyvilla81

Of course, Green Park did used to be a plague pit, long ago, where the contaminated dead would be thrown by the hundred and covered over for eternity. It was also a cemetary for a lepers hospital. In times past it was also very popular with duellists, shooting each other at dawn.

My favourite time of year in Green Park is autumn, when the leaves turn gold and brown.

Pub + beer = happy Brit

by sue_stone

The English love their beer and the English love their pubs - there seems to be one on every corner!

The pub is a traditional meeting place for locals to catch up on the gossip and relax after a hard days work.

I don't spend much time in pubs, as I find them very often dingy and always very smokey.

But, when in London, make sure you have at least one Lager....
