We stayed in a family room. It was big enough but had one window facing another room window, the small window could not open so we had nothing to look at. It was clean and had and ensuite. The breakfast was ok but you had to get the timing right in order to get a table. the girls that were serving was not very helpful and could not understand english very well. one good point was that it was less than 5 min from the nearest tube station.

Know area quite well.
Kings Cross has perhaps some of the cheapest accommodation in Central London around the station area.
The main reason is it has a poor reputation and several years ago was infamous as a red light area with kirb crawling and drug trafficking. Its still not somewhere where you will want to wander in the evening but its much better than the reputation. There is a lot of redevelopment going on in the station area (the Eurostar strains will move here from Waterloo Station in the future)
The Comfort Inn is one of the most expensive and at the same time worst hotels in the area. Opposite Kings Cross Station are severals B&B's which considering the cost offer good value. Examples being Montana Excel, Howard Winchester and Arriva Hotels. Doubles/Twins here with breakfast should be about 40-50 GBP
