 | Novotel London Excel: Nice but very far

I stayed in Novotel Excel in February 08. The hotel is very far from the city center and due to the works going on in the rails and metro, was a nightmare to get there. It took us almost 2 hours to get from Victoria Station to the hotel. We had to change 4 times between metro and the DLR. The hassle is more on the weekend, but even during the week you need to make a couple of changes and it will take at least 45 m. The hotel it self is nice, quite new but when we got to the hotel I told to the receptionist that we wanted a nice room after spending 2 hours just to get there. Ok, the guy gave a nice room on the top floor with a nice view but it wasn't the type of room i had booked: 2 adults and 2 children. So they gave another room and when we were about to move, we got a call saying that for the second time we got a wrong room. Finally we got a 3rd room on the 2 floor down but with a completely different view and no one told us that before we got into the room. By that time we were so exhausted that we didn't care. So, the hotel is good if you are visiting the Excel fairs or the O2. But having 2 small children to take care we were so tired from our weekend in London and it was due to the time spent in the tube and DLR, going up and down, exchange lines all the time. Sorry I do not recommend. The good price that I paid was not worth. It was good lesson, any way.
A nice view on the docklands, quite modern and very quiet.
