A pretty good spot

A direct right from the Earls Court tube stop and down one block, this is a small hotel but offered a friendly and clean pit stop. The rooms were a bit small compared to US standards but they had coffee & tea, TV's, towels and private bathroom with showers for 65L per night. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I would say is that the beds were a bit hard and pillows a bit flat.

Unique Quality: a pleasant, safe neighborhood close to the tube a bus stops

for small people only

The was the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. You could touch the sides walls while sitting on the bed. The should is 18" square, so if you are a person of any size, you actually won't fit in it. If you drop the soap you have to get out to pick it up, not enough room to bend over. The room was bascially clean, the breakfast was basic continental. This hotel is OK for a couple of days, but for 12 days it was tough.

Unique Quality: none

More about Oliver Plaza Hotel

2 days in London

by islamonroe

"Earls Court"

After much planning and price shopping, considering are time in London was only 2 days, I selected The Oliver Plaza Hotel in Earls Court. We required 2 rooms, 1 for my husband and I with a double bed and 1 room with twin beds for our kids, 17 & 18. Rooms were 70L per night-They reccommend you call for best prices as the exchange rates are always fluxuating. beds were pretty hard and pillows were flat- rooms had bathrooms, TV's and towels and the front desk was friendly. The location was centrally located between Heatrow and Downtown London which was ideal. It was in a residential area that had a few restaurants and bars we checked out for a beer or 3- pretty mediokre-wouldn't go there unless we were staying close by but ok to pass the time.-The photo is what you see as you come out of Earls Court Tube-Oliver Plaza is the first 2 rights and 1 block away.

Earls Court has been a Mecca for travellers for ages.
Because of this, along with the accomodation, pubs and eateries, there are people coming and going at all hours.
The main tube station is on Earls Court road.
Earls Court is on the main Piccadilly line from Heathrow.
Also EC is a short ride from Victoria Stn. Chelsea etc.
Always be aware of pickpockets wherever you go, the tube has more than its share !.

yea the Earls Court area was nice - i stayed there last october

quick access by the tube

you can walk to kensington palace, kensington high street, victor and albert museum, millioanires row etc. from there pretty easy

when i go to london again i hope to stay in the area

it was pretty busy at most times - especailly on the main street byt the tube - lots of shops/cafes/internet so it should be safe with so many people around as above as said also

Earl's Court was once famous for the number of Australian visitors, today it caters for every kind of tourist, but mainly the budget traveller market.

Nice, popular area, always busy with plently of bars and places to eat.

Always be on the look out for those cheeky characters willing to relieve you of your belongings. There is usually a fixed patrol of police on the high steet to make you feel more comfortable.

Best of luck.

There is a hostel called the Barmy Badger. It is located in Earl's Court (good location). It is cheap for London (about 12 pounds/night). But, it has very small rooms but owner is very enthusiastic. You can pay 17 Euro for a 2 person room and hope that it is not filled with another (the 2 person rooms have a shower).
