Smart souvenir shopping
by marielexoteria
OK, so you saw a nice t-shirt, paper weight, collectible place (add your favorite souvenir) at a price you think it's adequate. Chances are the shop next door or down the street has the same item but cheaper. At Piccadilly Circus there's plenty of souvenir shops that have pretty much the same range of merchandise and the price differs by as much as a couple of pounds. You might even look at shops outside the city center for even better prices.
Walking around town. No two...
by TwoWheels
Walking around town. No two areas are the same, and London is always changing. New shops, new restaurants, new pubs. Every trip into town offers something new. A Bombay Saphire martini in Bank (at Kingsway and Aldwych) with a fine Havana cigar. Or, ...
WEBSITE: TimeOut London

TimeOut London is the sister magazine/website to TimeOut New York. It is the place you go to find out what's going out in London, from concerts, clubs, social/community events, parades, and whatever else is going on in London! It's a fantastic site/magazine that everyone who visits London must visit/purchase to see what local events they can participate in. I've found out about several street fairs, local parades, even hotel suggestions from TimeOut. It's incredibly helpful and I highly suggest you use it as a resource when visiting London.
The Monument view
by Ash59
View from the top of the Monument towards Tower Bridge.
The view from the top of the Monument is great but go on day when it is warm-ish. It can be bitterly cold up there if there is a wind and there is no where to shelter from it, as I found out!
flush in the toilet paper!
by Manyana
one of the weird and discomfortable things is to flush in the toilet paper in the bidet! i mean it!
i've been to different english houses, student flats and so on and they seem to share this common custom! once i was in this lady's house whom i was her guest for a couple of days. then i was looking for a rubbish bin in the toilet to throw away the used paper. i was looking and looking and looking until i just grabbed a plastic bag to get rid of it. then i hanged the bag in the toilet, so my other guest friends were using it as well. the lady got upset and said, 'no, we don't do this here. you'd throw the used paper into the toilet then flush it in. it's recycled paper and should dissolve'..............excuse me! it's not even good to have the toilet well-maintained, it'll block the poor toilet.
so here, just flush the used paper in, never throw it away! tho i'd still feel sorry not to dignfy the paper in bin rather humiliating it somewhere else, lol
oh wait...also some public toilets have lady's machines and ie to insert a coin and here you receive lady's sanitary stuff. cool, innit? i found this machine to cost £2 per item.
