Both times I was in London last year (2007) I stayed in Palmers Lodge, not too far from Baker Street (Underground Swiss Cottage). I thought it was a comfortable hostel, pretty clean and the service was nice, breakfast OK. They have a little bar in the basement, where you also can get some snacks like pizza or taccos etc. Internet was slowly...
Of course it always has been hard to get a single or double room, but if you do not mind to take a dorm it is OK to stay here.

Palmers Lodge Swiss Cottage?
Just wondering if anyone's stayed at the Palmers Lodge Swiss Cottage in London. It was recommended by The Independent, so I was wondering what your experience was.
Otherwise, just looking for a clean, safe hostel.

I'll be staying there in a few days and i've made a reservation already. The place seems very close from the tube station, clean and safe. It's got very good reviews(which you've probably already checked), and it's not one of those party hostels--one of the reason I booked it.
Anyways I'd be interested on some feedback too :)

That's the one that consistently got good reviews at hostelworld.com, other than the showers being small and it sounds like you want to avoid the basement dorm for security reasons. But otherwise it sounded good.
