SMALL AND EFFICIENT

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on July 28, 2015

When I first arrived I kept thinking, this is an old building that has been completely modernised. At reception I was greeted warmly and assured that the quiet room (at the rear) was waiting for me as I had reserved. As I walked down the longest corridor ever I kept thinking – they have cut all the rooms in half and I bet the walls will be thin and the rooms tiny. When I arrived in my compact room, I found it ultra-modern and very small. Having said that – it worked. The second I sat on the bed I did at least know that was a real positive. The bathroom was also very small, but efficient. You basically have a shower in the middle of the bathroom. I could shave, shower and do whatever I needed to do. It all works.

The only issue I had was another resident decided to play his music on a device very loudly a few doors away. I went to reception and the man ran down the corridor and dealt with it instantly. The hotel is quiet, but does not have the thickest walls. However the staff understand this and ensure that everyone has a quiet stay. In fact the volume on the TV is limited to a very soft level. Why can’t all hotels do this? The people that run this and their other locations (Park Grand London Hotels Group) do a great job. I have stayed with them a few times and find that any request or issue is dealt with quickly and in a positive manner. They do understand that business travellers want sleep! Oh, and a cold beer or two before bed.

Hotwire-Paddington area

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 14, 2014

Our 1st few nights of the trip were spent at the Park Grand London Paddington which I got from Hotwire, you don't know which hotel, just the price. Paddington was a good location for our 1st night, we took the Heathrow Connect to Paddington and walked to the hotel, less than 10 minutes on foot with luggage. I tried to email them before we arrived to ask for a twin room but my email bounced back and then I forgot, at 1st they said I had booked a single but I hadn't, then there was a long discussion about whether a double or twin had more space, finally they gave me a twin.

The twin beds are in reality two mattresses on a single base that you could push about 3 inches apart, if it were not for the fact that there was double bed sheets and comforter. The bed was big enough where it wasn't too weird sleeping with a friend.

Unique Quality: The bed was comfortable enough although I didn't care for the pillows, my traveling companion liked them. The shower was good, plenty of hot water and good pressure, there was shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath gel and soap. The room had a safe, tea/coffee service, free wifi although you had to relog on if off for any period of time.
