Airport Parking

We booked the Park Inn as it included one nights accomodation and 10days on site parking. We got an excellant deal, check in was hassle free, the room was clean and tidy , the facilities were everything we expected. We went down to have a drink, get into the restaurant have an early meal and settle down in the bar to watch England first game in the worldcup. Thats when things changed. The drinks were expensive. The restaurant was laid out like a canteen. The service was good I must say and we would probably have had better value if we had gone for the buffet, but we chose a la carte and quite frankly were ripped off. Then I had to suffer Englands poor display whilst drinking more expensive drinks. Most people we spoke to had the same views on the prices and one family went out to eat. My word of warning is don't be sucked into the good deal on airport parking look at the whole package. We have had much better value from other London airport parking deals.

Unique Quality: Near Heathrow.

Heathrow Hotels

Typical airport 4* hotel, overpiced, clean, efficient and boring ; ) Still, hopefully you are on your way to better things and just need a clean, warm bed, no?

The Little Rock Chic and I, stayed one 'night' (we got up at 4 am for our early morning check-in). We got a good deal at this rather good website : Holiday Extras This website does much cheaper deals than booking directly with the hotels. We booked the secret 4 * option to get this hotel at a better price. It is very close to the aiport and is the first stop on the Hopper Bus which services all the airport hotels. The journey is grey and depressing, what can I say.

Check in was efficient, the room clean & with all the usual stuff, although rather cold and rather 1970's. Go out for dinner elsewhere if you have the energy, we ordered soup and sandwich and a bottle of water and it was just over £30 - riduiculous! but what can you do when you are exhausted? I suggest bringing your own little minature of brandy or whatever and mix it with something from the mini bar and maybe some nibbles of your own as they have a fridge in the rooms.

The reception area has a flight information board and staff ordered us a taxi which arrived promptly and was a nice clean car with a cheerful, but not overly chatty (it was 4 am!)and helpful(lifted casese etc) driver (overpriced again at £10).

The hotel also has a pool (no time for us to investigate) and offers 24 room service, check in 2pm, latest check-out 12.00 noon.

We thought about booking somewhere with a little more personality like the Shearton or similar, but as our check-in was so early, we really only needed a clean bed for the night, so we didn't bother. The Park Inn was comparitively good value and I can definitley recommend it for ease and convenience with clean, 4 * facilities.

Unique Quality: Close to the airport.

Le Meridien Gatwick

Stayed here to facilitate catching a flight. Stayed for one night. Rather overpriced, not much of a hotel. Does have restaurants and basic services.

Unique Quality: Close/connected to Gatwick airport (North Terminal).

Adequate but expensive for what you get

The rooms are big & clean but could do with some modernisation.

The corridors defintely need some renovation - they look extremely drab - and go on forever!!!

Food is definitely not this hotel's strong point - even the toast in the morning tastes like it's been deep fried!

Unique Quality: The pool is quite nice but the gym is pretty small with not much equipment although then again it was never very busy in the evenings so at least you can get to use it.

Excelsior Hotel at Heathrow (now Le Meridien)

On September 27, 1995 we stayed at Heathrow overnight in what was then the Excelsior Hotel. It is now Le Meridien Excelsior Heathrow Hotel

It was very comfortable. They offered a wonderful buffet breakfast (full English breakgast) back then and convenient transportation to and from the airport.

More about Park Inn Heathrow

We left some clothing in our hotel room on our departure. We could not find an e-mail address for Park Inn Heathrow on the web. So we sent an e-mail to Hayes. They could not forward our reqeust, but suggested that we contact the hotel directly. So we sent a letter, with the same reqeust, directly to Park Inn Heathrow. It has been more than a month and we still have not had a reply.
In the letter we complimented the hotel on their excellent service under difficult circumstances, they even kept the restaurant open for more than an hour after closing time to accommodate all the people from our delayed flight. We have had no reason for any complaint. We do however find it strange that they did not find it necessary to reply to our letter.

Better than expected

After reading previous reviews on this site i was worried, but after visiting 2/4/05 for one night, can report room very clean, food very good, carvery turkey moist and plenty of it, veggies like mum makes, sweets - help yourself buffet, i had chocoate layer cake plus some fresh fruit salad on the side. Fine for a pre-flight stay or as we did, a weekend in London.

Fine Hotel

We stayed this 4 star hotel for 1 night because the airline provided to us due to cancellation of our flight because of the engine failure. Therefore, we paid nothing.

Room: Modern with all the amenities, very clean, good size.

Meal: We had buffet dinner at the restaurant (which cost 15,00 GBP per person). Very quality food and selection of choice. We were very satisfied.
Next day, we had hot buffet breakfast. Again, very quality food and selection of choice.

Service: Friendly and helpful staffs.

Location: 5 minutes drive away from Hathrow Airport. There was no restaurants or shops nearby area.

I would recommend anyone who want to stay at nearby the Heathrow airport. You won't be dissapointed.

Considering the competition...splendid

The Park Inn Hotel is indeed a new look for Le Meridien - I stayed here in 2000 and can see the new colours are a little on the loud side. Once inside though the hotel is much as you'd expect, large, clean and comfortable. It caters for both business and leisure with ample room for both.

The fitness area is adequate in size, there is a sauna, pool and whirlpool. Rooms are small but comfortable, with modern simple decor ie beech/halogen lighting. Soundproofing is fine, but the walls are a little thin, so you may end up moaning about the noise levels from the person next door rather than the noise levels of the 0630 flight to New York. Bathrooms are very small as you can see from the picture, but again clean with a tub and shower plus toiletries.

As you will find from the room service menu, prices are extortionate. Instead head outside the hotel and cross the road to the pub. There you'll find an extensive menu with excellent prices that won't leave a bitter taste in your mouth - and it's good food to boot. Try the Belgian Waffle dessert! Yummm.

Breakfast is served on the ground floor and is adequate with numerous options, but all in all nothing grand.

Getting to the airport for your flight can present a problem. Terminal 4 is not directly served as the Hoppa bus only goes to Terminals 1/2/3. From there you can travel free by bus or Heathrow Express, but this takes time and you may have to stand or wait a while. I opted for a taxi for simplicity, but this did empty my wallet of £14 - incredible considering it's only a couple of miles.

From the wide choice of hotels in and around Heathrow, Park Inn delivers its promise as a 4 star establishment, and for the price I paid - £66 - more than acceptable. Most of the other hotels of this standard charge far more and some are less comfortable. Worth a try.

Should have stayed as Le Meridian!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

This hotel used to be owned by Le Meridian, a hotel we used to stay at quite frequently. The old travel lodge behind it was also worth a stay if you were looking for somewhere cheap.

We were looking for somewhere to lay over while at heathrow and we thought we would give the 'New' Park Inn a try. Big mistake!!!

The 'new' rooms that we were placed in are the old travel lodge done up by ikea, bad paint jobs and generally poor workmanship. We also found out the breakfast was not included in our rate, that car parking cost £10 and that the rate quoted on the telephone was a 'mistake' and could we pay another £10 please!!!

We were both V disappointed, the old hotel was an excellent establishment, 4 star hotel?, I don't think so!!!!!

If you want to stay at the travel lodge but pay through the nose, this is the place for you!!!

We will not be back.

Park Inn Heathrow? Anyone with experience there?

by JRJENSEN

I am interested in finding out about this hotel for a family with children who plan to stay there the night before a trip back to the U.S.

Is it safe, clean, etc?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Looks perfectly ok to me; large business/conference hotel with shuttle, plasma screen, gym, WIFI etc. Can see no reason whatsoever why this should not be perfectly ok for a one-night stay (though don't suppose it's particularly cheap)...................
