A Port in the Storm

by TripAdvisor Member hotellooker

We arrived at about 9 p.m. having flown from LAX to Heathrow where we were caught in the Gate Gourmet/baggage handlers' strike. Thanks, guys! We mananged to get vouchers for dinner, breakfast and a room. Thankfully, the diningroom was still open and the food was fairly good. The wine was very expensive but we needed it! The concierge was very helpful the next morning. He made reservations for us on Eurostar. We bought some necessary items at a rather high price at the store [but at least there was a store]. Most maddening was the 3 pound each charge for the Hoppa Bus to the airport. At Charles de Gaule the bus is free.

enjoyed the comfey beds

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at this hotel one night before flying to LA, and one night on the return journey. Our deal included car parking for the duration of our holiday. The room we stayed in on the first night was satisfactory and we had no complaints, the bed linen and pillows were all clean, i am very fussy about pillow hygiene. There was a good view of the runway and the bed was comfey. The food is very expensive, and so are the drinks, £4 for a pint of beer. We used the shuttle bus with no problem. On our return we recieved a better room, and again very clean. The bed must have been a new one or was that my imagination due to two long haul flights from Tahiti and LA, but we slept well. We did not bother with the expensive breakfast next day and made our way home. In all I like the hotel, but they need to look at their prices in the bar and resturant, as these are not justified. We will be booking there again when we fly from Heathrow, but we may eat elsewhere.

Great holiday start

We stayed 1 night before flying on our holiday - we've stayed here before and have never been disappointed. It has a secure car park and we were able to leave our car there for all our holiday.

Check in is efficient and friendly - and the rooms are clean.

The Bar serves food - the portions are large and the service is good.

Although it's close to the runway (some rooms overlook it) it's not a noisey hotel. We will stay again.

Closest hotel to Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, and 3

by TripAdvisor Member Dennis1

I stayed here two nights free using Marriott points in early December 2005, and this was my second time there. The hotel is as good as you could want for an airport hotel. I was given a free upgrade and access to the Club Lounge for complimentary breakfast overlooking Heathrow's busy north runway. Great views of jumbo jets touching down right outside your window. Nice clean and quiet bedroom overlooking the airport. Friendly staff. The food in the bar area was quite good. Unfortunately, there is no pool at this hotel, but a sauna and small health club is downstairs. You do NOT need to take the Hotel Hoppa to get here. The hotel is located within the "free zone" of the regular London buses serving the airport. You just take the # 285 bus in front of the hotel and four minutes later you arrive free of charge at the central bus station at Heathrow, where you walk to the three terminals in that area. Terminal 4 requires you to take a free ride on the Heathrow Express train. Coming out of the airport you take the same # 285 bus to the hotel. These regular buses run more frequently than the Hotel Hoppa anyway. I was told that these free buses may eventually be cancelled, but at least in December they were still a great deal.

Excellent runway views

by TripAdvisor Member Knot

Booked an overnight stay with 15 nights parking in a standard room. At time of booking requested a runway view and was surprised to be allocated this.
Rooms well sound proofed and I must say the best nights sleep I have ever had in an airport hotel. Rooms clean and functional, staff polite and helpful (the toblerone chocolate on checking in helped). Only gripe was the price of the food, no good alternatives nearby unless you are brave enough to get back in your car and face the airport traffic, but they do do some small bar meals.
Hoppa bus to terminals runs every 12 minutes and return tickets can be bought from reception - easy. Would definately stay here again.
