On a sunny day, you must visit St James Park and hire a deckchair and bring a picnic. Enjoy the tranquility away from the hectic London streets. You can feed the ducks or listen to the brass band from the bandstand. Above all you will sense a feeling of being at peace and you will enjoy people watching. Fondest memory was seeing the solar eclipse in 1999 from the top of Primrose Hill and feeling the eeriness of the City below as it went cold and dark whilst the sun was eclipsed at midday. Spectacular views can be seen from Primrose Hill but not many people know where it is, in relation to the west End.

Go to a market. There are so many and they all rock. Street markets and indoor markets. Some are only good for household goods and others you can get everything, like food and clothes and jewellery. My favourites: Spitalfields (Liverpool St.), Camden Town (Camden Town), Strutton Grounds (Victoria), Waterloo (Waterloo). I don't want to bash Notting Hill but... Portobello market was so boring! The whole area is so overrated. oops did I just type that? whoa! my fondest memory? I definitely have one, but I'm not going to disclose it to all surfers of the web!

Yeomen and people working in Tower of London can live here with their families. You must admit it is very nice to have such an address: 'Mr X. Tower of London'.

Very English :-)
by HORSCHECK
There are a few things I find quite odd in England. Firstly, most sinks are equipped with two taps; one for cold and one for hot water. You find this system not only in old buildings but also in 4 starred hotels.
Secondly, many English have carpet in their bath or toilet. This might be kind of cosy, but from a hygenic point of view it appears to be strange.
Finally, most English walk around barefoot in both their home and a hotel room. Slippers seem to be widely unknown ....

If you think brits are snobby, very untrue.
ACCENTS -Plus nobody speaks upper class english except the rich and the royal family. Everybody speaks generally Cockney , an eastend accent everybody seems to have adopted.
FOOD STORES in London like Tesco Metro, Sainsburys Local, Marks & Spencers. You can find these stores in the city. Try their take away food or ready to go meals. You'll be amazed at the quality of food.
TV- in the U.K is good and if you have CABLE even better. In your hotel BBC 1 and 2, ITV , channels 4 and 5 are the locals one. They have some really good programs. You can usually pick up a tv guide in a store. Just dont watch a program that looks like it was made before the 70's.
