A HEAVENLY PLACE TO STAY

We recently returned from a week's stay in London and have to say what a pleasant experience we had at St. Margaret's Hotel. In this day it's hard to imagine a family owning and operating a hotel for well over fifty years. But such is the case with the Marazzi family! Mr. and Mrs. Marazzi, their lovely daughter Deborah, and the entire staff treat their guests, well, as guests. The service is courteous, thoughtful, and hospitable. And the delicious English breakfast is a great way to begin the day. There is little wonder that of the over 1,000 hotels in London, TripAdvisor has ranked St. Margaret's among the top 50!

Unique Quality: If for some reason you prefer to rub shoulders (noses?) with the glitterati and reside in opulent surroundings, then by all means pay and stay in some other hotel. But if you desire impeccable service, a warm and friendly atmosphere, cozy and comfortable rooms, a splendid location and all for a reasonable price then St. Margaret's Hotel may very well be the place for your stay in London. We know that it was for us.

London's Best Bed And Breakfast

I spent 3 months in London at this wonderful little bed and breakfast. It is family owned and ran, by a very sweet Italian family. My every need was filled. My every question was answered. My every comfort tended to. And Breakfast in the morning, Excellent! The street it's on is very quiet and pleasant. The hotel itself is within walking distance of the British Museum and at least two Tube stations that can take you all the major sites. This hotel is wonderful and I would recommend it to any and everybody.

Unique Quality: Delicious English breakfasts, cute inner court garden. All major tourist sites are easily accessible.

Bloomsbury

Same as before - This is Central London - it's not cheap. (If you don't have private facilities (ie shower and loo) then the rooms are a bit cheaper). I stayed here for a couple of nights because it was convenient and close to where I needed to be. If I had been staying longer I would find somewhere cheaper!

Loads of places around to eat out in the evening (Holborn area) and just a short walk from the West End.

Unique Quality: Very comfortable. Lovely breakfast room and lounge.

A Winter's weekend

Great hotel right in the middle of London. Friendly helpful staff. The room was clean and had TV and telephone. The breakfast was waitress service and very filling.

£90 for a double room with private facilities.

Unique Quality: The view from our window was of a lovely little square - a private residents garden - beautiful in the early morning winter sun.

NOW CLOSED, alas:(

St Margarets was one of the reasonably priced hotels on Bedford Place that have been bought by the Grange group and upscaled. It;s a real loss for the budget conscious in central London.

Unique Quality: Stylish this place isn't -- but it is incredibly clean and has very good management. Getting a hotel room that doesn't disgust you in central-ish London for less than $100 USD is difficult. We've stayed in fancier places and different areas, but this is our hotel now -- if I could only understand why they keep pushing the grilled tomatoes at breakfast:) We enjoy the Bloomsbury area -- the tube is about 3 blocks, but then the British Museum is literally around the corner! And the bathroom down the hall thing is quite manageable.
.
The bus to Heathrow stops at the head of Bedford Place. Veddy convenient indeed!
