Quaint Hotel in the Middle of London

We spent only one night at the Averard but it was much enjoyed. It's conveniently located near Lancaster Gate station so access is not difficult. We were slightly deterred by the appearance, it looks a little outdated, and the warmth in the early evening. After dinner though, the temperature was perfect and the beds comfortable. The only problem was that our hopefully beautiful view wasn't to be- it was the view of the gap between the buildings. Other than that, it was inexpensive and comfortable with a great continental breakfast included in the tab.

Unique Quality: 1920's hotel full of character and contemporary architecture

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average

Can't help with the hotel, but a 'continental breakfast' is usually fruit juice with croissants and/ or rolls, butter, jam, preserves etc. There will be milk provided for tea/ coffee. An 'English breakfast' (in hotels..not usually in an English home!) is made up of juice and/ or cereals with milk, followed by fried eggs/ bacon/ mushrooms/ tomatoes/ sausages/ bread, followed by toast with preserves and tea or coffee. This is also called a 'cooked breakfast'.
