More about The Vineyard At Stockcross

Wonderful Retreat

by TripAdvisor Member TravellerJersey

This is a hotel you will not want to leave.

Fron the moment you arrive, you are made to feel very welcome. All the staff (without exception) are not only attentive but also very friendly.

Although the rooms (we stayed in a luxury double) are in a need of a little refurbishment, they are nonetheless, very comfortable.

The food is absolutely wonderful. You will not get a better meal elsewhere. What else can I say!

The Spa is excellent but is is not very easy to book treatments as it is so popular. Be sure to book in advance.

Will I go back? I can't wait.

A place close to Heaven

by A TripAdvisor Member

If you want indulgence, luxury and a stress free environment with amazing food and wine - then this place is as close to heaven as you can get. We only went for a weekend - but I didn't want to leave. The surrondings were lovely, the actual hotel was faultless and room was perfect. It had a bed you just wanted to jump up and down on, a bathroom decked out all in marble and a mini swimming pool for a bath tub. The staff were so friendly and efficient - We walked back into our room while it was still being made up after breakfast - we said we would come back and the maid actually came to find us to tell us our room was ready, which we were really impressed with. The staff in the restaurant made sure your only task was to eat the foodand drink the wine from pouring your wine to fluffing your pillow on your chair - they were amazing. The food was the biggest highlight - every dish so full of flavour and the length of wine list was something else. The spa area was great and hours passed just sitting by the pool without you even realising. I would definately say that it is worth upgrading your room if the opportunity arises the extra touches with an upgrade are worth the hundred odd pounds you pay. This location is a must for a special break and we will continue to return year after year.

Wow

From the moment that we arrived to the end of the stay, we could not have been made to feel more welcome.

We were shown on arrival to a large light spacious room that had a fantastic terraced area overlooking the neighbouring golf club.

The Spa within the hotel was superb - with a large swimming pool, invigorating Jacuzzi, modern gym, and treatment rooms. Best of all, for a lot of the time during our stay, it felt as if we had the whole place to ourselves. Be sure to book a treatment!

We had a wonderful meal in the Restaurant, which could not be faulted, with a huge choice of wines, the Sommelier was extremely helpful.

We can’t wait to return and will certainly be making this hotel one of our regular retreats!

Weekend at Vineyard...Priceless

by TripAdvisor Member kruster

It had been described in other reviews as a little bit of heaven... and its true. The hotel is true 5 star quality and the staff are very polite and ready to deliver a great service. The room was as expected, big, spacious and clean. The spa has a big enough pool with seating all around. The restaurant - WOW! This topped off everything. The food is melt in your mouth stuff and was amazing - worth the trip on its own! And... try the afternoon tea, order a double plate of scones, they're yummy! We returned to London all relaxed after a weekend like it had been a week away.

Sheer indulgence!

I had booked dinner and a room at the Vineyard as a birthday present for my partner in May. It was definitely a good decision! :)

For a 5 star hotel, the Vineyard is, surprisingly, relatively small and personable. As soon as you arrive at the hotel, you are made to feel very welcomed by all the staff. They even offerred to take our bags and park the car for us.

We were pleasantly surprised when we found out that we had been upgraded a room from a basic double to a larger one. We were then personally escorted to our room - and given a guided tour of our room! Quite an impressive feat since our room wasn't actually huge, though it was spacious enough. We loved the fact that the room was cosy and quiet (no paper-thin walls in this place!) with a very large king-size bed - and a skylight. The ensuite bathroom was luxurious as well, with a good selection of complimentary toileteries. There is a pretty good selection of DVDs available for an evening's entertainment if you require it.

There is a nice large pool and the spa is excellent at the Vineyard. There are nice fluffy bathrobes, towels and slippers provided in the room, for your visit to the spa / pool. There is also a small gym upstairs, with adequate facilities, should you choose to use it.

The highlight of the stay was definitely the food. It's a Michelin star restaurant for a good reason - the food is excellent and the wine list is almost as big as a telephone directory! We found both our dinner and breakfast the next morning, wonderful and service was very attentive without being intrusive throughout.

When we checked out, the hotel overcharged us by mistake but they soon cleared it up super-efficiently on the spot.

We really enjoyed our time at the Vineyard, and will be back as soon as we have saved up enough for another day of sheer indulgence! :)

Countryside Bliss

by TripAdvisor Member HappyGuest1976

We have just spent the weekend at the Vineyard celebrating my 30th birthday and had a truly wonderful stay. From the spacious, comfortable rooms through to the clean spa and outstanding restaurant - we were made to feel at home. The staff were friendly and professional throughout and are a credit to the hotel. As per previous reviews, the food was quality and the wine list without doubt the longest I've seen. The tasting menu is to be recommended.

Chef's Table Week

by TripAdvisor Member hotelstayer

What can I say about the vineyard that has not been said before - it is an amazig place, the food is perfection, the wine list outstanding, the staff friendly but always professional, our suite was luxurious and quiet. We have just spent two days at the annual chefs table week and the food and service on both nights was superb - we will definitly be booking to visit again very soon.

Absolutely Perfect!

My husband & I have just returned home after spending two weeks travelling around the UK and I can honestly say that the Vineyard is definately one of the best places we've ever stayed in (Britain). From the moment you step into reception, you just know that you're in for a wonderful stay. The team of staff at the Vineyard are extremely professional, friendly & helpful - the service received was absolutely faultless. The room was extremely spacious and furnished to an extremely high standard. The mini-bar was full of complimentary refreshments - a nice touch.

The food in the restaurant was delicious and comparable to Le Manoir. There is no doubt that two michelin stars will be rewarded in the near future. The service was again impeccable.

A visit to the hotel spa is a must - you cannot but leave there feeling completely relaxed.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. If there's only one hotel you can visit in the UK, make it this one!!

Disappointed by our night here. On arrival, the staff were too busy have a chat inside to came out to greet us or take our bags from valet parking. Ordering pre dinner drinks was comic, glasses were not topped up during the meal, which itself was unexceptional. We returned to our room after dinner to find it had not been turned down. At breakfast, part of our cooked breakfast arrived before we'd even had a chance to start our fruit / museli, the bacon turned up separately 5 minutes later...
A nice enough hotel, but definitely not in the league of similarly priced / rated ones in the UK.

Wonderful

Utterly fantastic. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed The Vineyard. The room was beautiful, the spa and pool fabulous and the food was incredible. It was a very memorable trip.

Day trip to Manchester

by nadalert

Hi,

I will be staying in London for a weekend in May and plan to go to see Manchester United. I just want to go for the day what is the best way to get there?

Thanks in advance :)

Re: Day trip to Manchester

Do you have tickets already? If not, you may find that they are extremely difficult to get.

http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid={B7CE2C28-9164-45F4-8CF5-A91A2EA0EA6D} will tell you about ticket availability and online purchase.

Easiest way to get to Manchester is via train. www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you times, fares and details. Cheaper 'advance' fares can be purchased up to 6pm the night before travel.

Long-distance bus (coach) is cheaper, but takes longer. www.nationalexpress.com for times and fares. It is best to book your coach ticket onine in advance (although you can buy them from ticket offices at London Victoria coach station).

Then you will need to get to Old Trafford from Manchester city centre.

Get your tickets up front, there is no way you'll be able to turn up and get a ticket without paying silly money off a ticket tout - the recent Liverpool game was commanding 500 pounds a ticket!!!!!

I will say though do the tour for £10 - you get a tour of the stadium and its well worth the money

Yeah I already have the tickets!

Thanks for the advice :)
