Superbreak+super ripoff (DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY)

by wixomite

What alternatives do I have when I get ripped off by Superbreak. I made reservations through Superbreak, but when I showed up to my reservation, I was forced to pay an additional 130 pounds, otherwise I would not have a place to stay. Even though, my copy of the reservation, showed I was paid in full! Who would I complain to in the U.K.?

If you are in the US (or Canada, I suppose), go to http://www.elliott.org/ and find out how to contact Chris Elliott. He is a nationally (and perhaps in Canada, too, which is why I say this) columnist on travel issues, and his columns are full of examples of where he contacts travel-related companies on the reader's behalf to get refunds and other considerations when the traveler is not at fault (or is maybe a little)...

To make it clear, he has no problem - if he likes your case - to contact international agencies, if these agencies sell to his readers, i.e., North Americans...

It's difficult to answer your question on the information given. Who charged you the extra £130? Was it Superbreak or was it the hotel you had booked through them?

For general advice in the first instance, try contacting Consumer Direct.

http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/contact

I don't think that the 0845 number will work from outside the UK, but you can email them.

If you have a reasonable case & can't sort it out through their advice, they may pass the case to the relevant Trading Standards Department for further action.

Good luck!

Yes, it is not clear fro your post with whom you had the seemingly-broken contract.

Could you clarify the exact circumstances which led to this extra payment, please? That way we in the UK might be able to point you in the right direction.

Just to let people know, Superbreak has decided to refund my 130 lbs. They said it was the fault of the VisitLondon website I was on when I made the booking. But they can blame whomever they like, as long as they are sending me my refund!!

Then I suggest it was not actually a rip-off at all but indeed an error on the part of the website (which is, by the way, the official tourist info site for London).

If it were a rip-off you would most certainly still be seeking your refund.

Perhaps you should view this experience as compliment for Superbreak, rather than anything other. Mistakes do happen; it is when they are not rectified that one has cause to complain.

Around Piccadilly Circus

Stroll around the busy area around Piccadilly Circus with the aluminium statue known as Eros. It is formed by the junction of five streets including the popular shopping street Regent Street. At night the famous neon advertisments give the place a touch of dazzle. Just amazing ....

The White Tower and the Armories contain the national collection of arms and armor. If you are at all interested in the weapons of past times, you will really enjoy the massive collection at the Tower of London.

One thing to remember while in London is that waiting in long Queue's has become part of our culture now since England won the World Cup back in 1966.

We are so efficient in making people queue we even let the ladies queue for there Toilets, but further to my investigation I found out the conspiracy theory behind the reason why...?
Its simply to slow the Woman down when she's out and about shopping, hoping she may forget or not bother going back to the last shop for those Prada shoes. (hehe...)

Umbrella, Trenchcoat

by Lildeer

Bring a sturdy umbrella! You can tell a local by how fast and effortlessly he whisks out his trusty umbrella. Don't bother to bring those poor underachievers who give themselves inside out to a gust. It just won't do in London.
