Travel card
by Imbi
It all depends that how long and where are you staying in London. Travelling could prove very expensive in London if one decided to travel with organising their journey. If you are staying for a week in London, the best thing would be to buy a weekly card. One-day cards are also very handy and could you save money. If you are staying in central London, you could buy Zone 1,2 travel card and it’s valid from 0930 hrs to midnight.
Let's all go down the Strand

Have a banana...
Strand is an interesting London thoroughfare. At one end is Trafalgar Square, at the other is the gateway to the City. Several theatres are to be found here, such as the Lyceum (see the Lion King!), the Adelphi (see Chicago!) and the Vaudeville (see, er, Stomp). the Savoy theatre too is here, first place in the UK to use electric lighting. It is next to the Savoy Hotel, the little road leading into which is the only one in Britain where you must drive on the right hand side of the street - or the wrong-hand side as we call it...
The Savoy has no room 13 - it is bad luck. In fact if you had a meal at the Savoy's restaurant and booked for thirteen people they would give you a table with fourteen seats. I kid you not. In the fourteenth seat they place a little wooden cat called Caspar.
The best guided tours in London
by Callavetta
London Walks has a grand tradition of leading very inexpensive, very interesting tours. There are literally dozens offered every week and the guides are incredibly well versed in local lore and valuable information.
There's no need to make a reservation in advance. Simply show up at the assigned spot at the assigned time. I highly recommend one each visit to this great City.
For solo travelers, these are GREAT ways to hook up with other travelers and not feel quite so alone!
Inside the GLA
by Mariajoy
It is possible for visitors to enter the GLA and have a look around and visit the cafe. There is art on display and interactive displays about London.
When you enter there is of course the bag search and airport style security system - I always beep - I don't know why but I do - the GLA was no different to the airport... I beeped but the security officer let me pass without further checks thankfully.
Anyway it is free to get in and of course being the "Palace of PC-ness" - it is fully gluten-free vegetarian-friendly and - oh that's the cafe... it is totally accessible for disabled visitors too.
City Hall is open to the public Mon-Fri 8am to 8pm and some weekends. Check the website for more details.
