THE OTHER WELBY

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 6, 2015

PLEASE NOTE: This is actually a tip about the sister property - Welby 64.

This is one of several properties owned by the Welby group and sister hotel to Welby Belsize. A nice Greek Cypriot family have been operating decent and affordable accommodation in the Camdenn area since 1979. They are a bit more geared towards weekly rentals, but it’s a good budget option for business. It’s a little faded and worn, but clean. The important thing is that the beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet. There are longer term residents, but you never hear them. Even the road is quiet. Welby 64 is located a reasonable walk away from the Welby Belsize tube station (Northern Line). There are some nice restaurants and 2 excellent grocery stores as well as several good drinking options nearby.

The rooms are a bit narrow, but have plenty of extras. There is a good sized refrigerator, electric oven/rings, cutlery, pots, pans, and glasses. There is a workable desk and free Wi-Fi. There is no air-conditioning, but the rooms stay cool in warmer months.

The best things are that the mattresses are excellent and the rooms are quiet. Even the other residents are quiet. You always get a good night’s sleep.

If you are looking for a good, quiet, budget hotel this is a very good option. They are very nice folks and they even left a key for me outside because I arrive very late the first time I stayed with them.

PLEASE NOTE: You need to go to their main office inside their Welby Belsize location. I have listed below the best public transport to get to the office.

(Prices: Start at £60 a night or £380 a week)
Another note! Both are excellent and quiet, but Welby 37 is closer to restaurants and the tube. Please specify when you book which property you prefer.
