Richmond Hill Hotel: The best in the Area
Adjacent to the 2500 acre Royal Park and Richmond Terrace, The Richmond Hill Hotel is the perfect location for both business and leisure. Incorporating an impressive Georgian manor, the oldest part of the hotel dates back to 1726. Much of the original character in this grade II listed building has been retained to present an interior of grandeur, elegance and comfort.

Bingham Hotel: A very fine boutique Hotel.
This place really is quite remarkable. As you can see from the photo, admittedly taken on a rather dreary day, the outside is fairly unprepossessing but looks can be deceiving as this is one of the most comfortable hotels I have ever stayed in. From the outset, the experience was a pleasant one. Staff are friendly and courteous, and we were shown to our room which was not only beautifully appointed but with a magnificent view of the river Thames at the bottom of the gardens.
When I say well-appointed, the room really did have everything, whirlpool bath, plasma TV, docking system for personal hi-fi and absolutely the most comfortable of beds.
The website states that the place, formerly the home of Lady Ann Bingham was opened as a Bed and Breakfast in 1984. The hotel now is so far removed from a B&B it is almost unbelievable, although the relatively small size (15 rooms) means that it retains a delightfully intimate atmosphere. I must admit to a fondness for hotels where the rooms have individual names as opposed to numbers.
The common rooms are equally impressive and the terrace is a delight, especially for those of us who like a smoke with our pre-dinner drink, in this case a perfectly prepared mojito. Pleasant as it was in winter, it must be idyllic in summer. I must say, though, that it would not be too much of a hardship to sit in the beautiful bar area if the weather were too iclement.
The restaurant is magnificent and will be the subject of a seperate tip.
This place certainly is not cheap but definitely worth it for a special treat.
The price quoted is for the least expensive double room and rises considerably for the superior ones with the river view.
Unique Quality: Just about everything is outstanding. The quality of the room, friendliness of the staff, the view over the river is beautiful, the restaurant etc. etc. I really can't speak highly enough of the Bingham and judging by the reviews it appears I am not alone in this view.

Richmond Gate Hotel: Quaint Hotel on top of Richmond Hill
We stayed here for 2 months (November and December) while we were working on a movie at Shepperton Studios. The movie paid for our accommodations.
Unique Quality: We had a nice room overlooking the Thames River. Unfortunately, it was located below the honeymoon suite and we heard a few amorous couples up there.
The Richmond Hill Hotel (next door) and the Richmond Gate share a nice gym facility complete with olympic sized pool, whirlpool, steam/sauna, cardio, weights, massage etc and even a cafe. It was great.
Both Hotels have nice restaurants. The Petersham across the road is brilliant.
One flaw: No elevators!
