The Lensbury is a clubhouse hotel that caters to the wealthy health conscious people who live in Teddington, as well as the Shell employees of its parent company. It's sports focused, and I think the England U-20 rugby team was staying there at the same time as me. But you don't need to be into sports to stay there as it's high quality accommodation for everyone.
The clubhouse is a spectacular building, and its easy to imagine a young couple, her with a finger wave bob haircut, his slicked back under a old boy's club cap, strolling down the corridors swinging their tennis rackets, a Noel Coward song playing faintly somewhere in the background. It's huge as well, and easy to get lost in, although this isn't such a good thing when trying to find a room with a strong internet connection. They kindly moved me couple of times until I found a room with a connection.
Overall a great stay with great staff and a great breakfast. The location is perfect if you are working at Pinewood, which is basically next door, although it's a bit of a walk into the centre of Teddington.
Directions: Walk up the high street towards the river, take a right down Broom Road before the weir.

Travel Tips for Teddington
A pleasant riverside place.
"Not much to tell you."
Teddington is a pleasant, mostly residential affluent suburb in Southwest London, sitting beside the River Thames. It is close to Twickenham and has a reasonable selection of pubs and restaurants.
Teddington is possibly most famous for Teddington Lock, which marks the tidal extent of the river and Teddington Studios which have been home over the years to numerous films and well-known TV series. It is well served by rail transport to Central London (Waterloo is the terminus station) and has good bus links to nearby centres.
One sunny autumn day we popped down to Teddington for a look around. We caught the train from Richmond to Teddington, and then had a browse in the shops in Teddington village.
After a couple of small purchases we walked down to the river and had a look at the pretty foot bridge and Teddington Lock.
On the way back to the station we popped into a cafe for a coffee and a treat : )
