Visiting Bolton, Greater Manchester area of UK

by ceswho

I'll be visiting Bolton 1st week of April, any Vter's around to meet for a drink and maybe show me the town of Bolton. Or any advise of the must "see" or fun activities to do in Bolton.

Hiya,
Hope you enjoy your trip over here to England. If you get chance it would be well worth going up to the Lake District which is only about 1 hours drive from Bolton ( www.golakes.co.uk ). A couple of websites with info on Bolton itself are : http://www.bolton-life.com/ http://www.visitbolton.com/
Regards, Darren.

Thank you, I sure will check it out. What is the weather like around April?

The Manchester area can be unpredictable - perfect sunshine one minute , then rain out of nowhere but it shouldn't be too bad. Here is a weather average chart for you :http://uk.weather.com/travel/travel-Bolton-UKXX0020?tab=2

Let me know when you are in town and I'll try to make it for a drink or several. Look on Kapians page for Ye Olde Man and Scythe, sample that cloudy cider.
A couple of old halls nearby are worth a visit, Rivington, Hall i th'wood, Smithills Hall, even The Last Drop all worth a look.

I know about the weather, but that won't damped my trip at all. It is just a great experience in the country side of UK.

Travel Tips for Bolton

You Don't Need Much

by steventilly

Just a small bag. Normal everyday clothing, and something for the rain (it often rains in this part of the country). None needed - unless you have special requirements. Digital camera, batteries, charger, memory cards. Gym gear for us.

Quad biking

by ettenaj

During the summer months, some of the parks in the area, have weekenders, which is like a small fair that is just put on for the weekend. This is a picture taken at Moss Bank Park where they set up this small area designated just for the children to ride the quad bikes.

Summer stroll

by onecut

Take the old bread and have a super relaxing afternoon down at the park, feeding the many swans that come back here year after year, not to mention the huge ammount of ducks and other water fowl, even a couple of herons have been known to nest here

Bobby Haywards

by ettenaj

On a nice sunny day head out of the town centre to Bobby Haywards park. Plenty for kids of any age, slides, swings, climing frames, sand pits and musical equipment. Ice cream and coffee, and you can have a great picnic on the grassy embankments

Hall I' Th' Wood - Interior IV

by steventilly

.. so we took a look under the bed (after all, we were allowed to touch this exhibit). Indeed, the matress of the bed is seated on a criss-cross array of ropes. These needed tightening regularly to stop the bed from sagging, and is (supposedly) the origin of the English phrase "night night, sleep tight".
